Luna just killed a bird and I could not do anything.

It was so shocking! A bird got into the terrace that is now entirely covered with plastic, making a sort of hot house to help keep the sun beams. That is where Luna´s house is and she comes and goes. When the bird started to fly desperately, she went there with curiosity and jumped and quickly got her living toy. That´s when I herd the noise but it was too late. The bird was already dead and Luna was examining it. I yelled at her and she minded me for a second and then came back. What was I to do? The damage had been done and I did not want to catch a cold going to the terrace barefooted. I feel guilty, but there was nothing to do. It is her nature.

I am sorry, poor bird. I always run outside when I see the cat that is going to jump to catch a bird, but when I do not see I am sure it kills some.

When a bird gets in, it is trapped. Luna doesn´t generally run after birds outside.

@marguicha I have saved a couple of lizards, it has not been easy and the cat was not happy with me.

It feels bad but we can't do anything. It's natural for dogs to do so. Our pet at mom's house killed a sparrow on terrace when we visited there during vacation. My younger one got so upset with Boogie and I think Boogie got the message loud that her favorite person was not happy about it.

@arunima25 I still think that human beings are more mean than dogs.

I don´t think that Luna will accept a bird on her territory.

@marguicha That's her natural instinct and she can't be blamed for it. Not fair to expect human thing from a dog.

You were helpless. I had to protect the birds when a stray cat was all ready to pounce on them when they came for their swim in the bird bath. I kept the shower on. And cats do not like water.

In this case, the poor bird got into Luna´s space.

Colds are caused by viruses and bacteria—not temperature

True. But is you get out in the cold without putting on a warmer garment you are exposing your body to stress.

Dogs kill. When I was a kid, the neighbors' dogs dug a hole under the fence, invaded our yard and killed my pet turtle.

I got Luna and an alarm for the house after I had burglars here twice 2 years ago. I trust Luna more than the alarm system.

I hope she guards her house if burglars come again.
