Going Down Memory Lane

My brother sent me some long-missing photos and we found ourselves on a trip down memory lane. There were photos of places we lived and people we knew. There were photos of us as kids and photos of my mom and dad. I do not have any pictures of mom and me together so was glad to see those. Have you been down memory lane lately? Did you ride an emotional roller coaster while remembering things from your life and past? Were you ever surprised by an unexpected package of pictures or objects?

I did not have much family growing up. I had my parents and two brothers. We try to stick together as a family but we each live in a different state.

Wow, I don't understand why you all don't look back. There have been a lot of really horrendous things from the past but I am trying to connect to the good memories.

I have brought home all the albums I found in the apartment of my mother. I just looked at some, but I stopped. The past is gone, but the present is what counts now.

@akalinus Sometimes there are things that I prefer to forget, pictures bring back also negative memories.

That is good if you feel that way. I cannot remember big blocks of my past and my connection to family. The photos help.

Yes, I have spent years trying to deal with what happened in the past but I love these pictures as a connection to family.

I am happy to know that you re-gained some photos you thought lost, Jo Ann. From the way you constructed your sentences I would say you didn't find many or possibly any that disturbed you or that shocked you in the photos sent by your brother. When I was putting together the huge amount of photos my family sent me, quite some years ago, into the e-album I made for the family I did find some that were personally disturbing and didn't add them to the album I made for everyone else. I'm not sure how my family thought I'd want to see those photos but I returned them to their owners without comment.

@crazyhorseladycx It is hard for us who did not grow up with technology. I don't even know how to use my phone yet. I learned the internet by trial and error, mostly error. Then I found out that I could find the answer to most computer problems somewhere online so I could stop bothering my techie friends.

Is there any way that she can scan them and send them to you online until you are able to get in for a nice visit?

I'm glad you had a pleasant journey down memory lane. I have a box of pictures that belonged to my parents. I've looked at them a couple of times.

I'm guessing that all your memories are not pleasant. Some of his photos brought back feelings of extreme discomfort and memories.

@Nakitakona I wish you luck with it. I did not know any of my dad's relatives until a cousin contacted me. All of his siblings are gone but I have photos of them now.

@akalinus You're right. I have already contacted my nearest relatives about it for I am preparing my family tree or genealogy.
