Update About Hubpages

As I mentioned yesterday, I joined Hubpages. Initially I was excited, but I've already deleted my account. In retrospect, I would NOT recommend Hubpages to publish on.
I had two articles published, but they were unpublished later by the admin because their rating was too low to be featured or something to that effect.
In actuality there was nothing wrong with the actual posts themselves.
Anyway, it WAS worth trying out, if for no other reason than ultimately finding out it wasn't the site for me.

I think that is why I left so quickly. There is a lot of competition on there and people are really picky. Whoever can actually post on there, more power to them. At least you found out pretty quickly before wasting anymore time.

I am still there. Have 226 things published there. Pretty much everything has been published a while back. Not much active in posting new things there. But I still earn passive income, and more than I do here monthly, so no reason to leave the site.

@lovebuglena I am the same. I receive my passive income there more than I got from staying here most of the time when I can.

Were they actually unpublished or just unfeatured? Articles can be published on the site but unfeatured (not appearing in search engine searches) due to low quality or low search traffic. I've never had articles unpublished but I had them unfeatured due to low search traffic. I actually have a bunch with that issue now but they are still published on the site.

It said "this article is unpublished, only you can see it" w/the explanation.

@jnrdutton What was the exact reason why it was unpublished?

@lovebuglena about the low rating is all they said.
After they said the same thing on BOTH articles, I decided it was more hassle than it's worth.

I don't like the sites that depend on rating by other members. There is a lot of abuse in those systems. I wrote for Helium and they were rated by other readers. There was a contest for a garden magazine. My entry was rated low by others but the magazine bought mine. It is a flawed system

You cannot rate stuff on HubPages as far as I know. But every article (hub) you publish does have a hub score and you as the author have a hubber score. These two scores change all the time. Of course, the better each score the better it is for the author.

@lovebuglena I guess I misunderstood how it works. Why do the scores change? Does it mean that someone wrote something better or what? Do you actually make enough on Hub Pages to make it worth your while?

@jnrdutton I was with B too, they still owe me though. Too bad the site was long gone. I wonder what really happens when everything was okay.

Of all the places I have ever tried for writing, the best were Bubblews (now defunct) and Mylot.

@JustBhem There was a lot of speculation from several sources as to why Bubblews went dark.
Maybe they just didn't have the revenue to cover server costs/general site expenses AND pay users.

I write on Hubpages for more than 8 years. Only quality articles are being featured. They have a very high standard when it comes to writing as it is a content writing site. Still, I would recommend HubPages. That is the site where I earn my passive income.

@thelme55 What one considers high quality someone else may not. I don't think they let fluff get published. However, there may be old stuff already published that is not up to par that is still published.

I would recommend HP as well because of the passive income and better earnings than here and you don't have to be active to earn. I am active here and earn pennies. I am not active there and I earn way more than here.

That is one reason why I have not joined. I am not a good writer.

I'm sorry for how things ended up there...was hopeful but turned out to not be a good place

That’s why I like Medium! Hubpages I joined but never really felt comfortable out, but I was there years ago!
