Medical advice on facebook

Have seen a lot of people asking for medical advice for sometimes serious ailments on facebook. I think it is better to take a doctors advise rather than taking advise from friends and strangers and experimenting with medications. Do you try your own medications when sick or do you go to the doctor everytime you feel unwell.

I will always go to the doctor if I feel sick and do not know what is going on. If I have something like a cold, I do not but neither do I ask for advice online. Nor would I take medications the doctors do not prescribe to me. That is just dangerous.

Yes, it is dangerous taking medicines without proper prescriptions. But some people just will not listen and like self medications.

@mayka123 Do you suppose it is because the cost of seeing a doctor is so high that they choose this dangerous route?

Asking "around" when you are sick is silly and dangerous. If it's something serious I go to see my doctor. If it's a cold I wait a week and it's over.

Quite often its their kids who are sick and sometimes have been sick for a long time and these parents seek advice online for a cure for the kids.

@LadyDuck And its always good to stick to one doctor because over time he knows you well and knows your illnesses too.

@mayka123 It is wrong, because every case is different and only a doctor can judge.

I am also seeing those but in our page, we share the same sickness so patients ask us about this and that and we answer them base on our experience but most of the time we ensure them to go check it with their Doctors.

I am always of the opinion one should not take medication unless we are physically checked by a doctor.

That's the best practice to follow. Doctors know best after all.

I never take those from social.media as medication. I always would tell the doctor about them, before taking them , like those herbal.supplements.

I have never tried those herbal supplements even when they were recommended to me by a known person.

When it comes to my health, I only trust it with a real doctor.

It's better to visit the doctor themselves. I guess this is what medical transcription comes in, but i highly doubt about their accuracy. did you know some one got a robot doctor from the hospital and it's a true story and it sucks.

I am lucky that I am never sick. When I have a headache I take aspirin and that works for me.

I would not be interested with Facebook suggestions... I prefer hearing news from my doctors...the best part is it’s free in Canada...the doctor is free, we have to buy medicine....
