Yesterday we had the family visitation for my aunt. Oh, was it rough.
I’d like to tell you a little about my aunt. She was my dad’s younger sister. Nearly all of the photos displayed showed her smiling or laughing. That was my aunt. She had a great sense of humor and a splendid laugh. You’ve heard that old saying about someone being able to light up a room? My aunt was a spotlight. One of the photos is indicative of who she was: a picture of her and her server after breakfast at IHOP. Both were beaming.
She was a very talented lady, too. What a gifted seamstress!! She entered creations (usually dresses made for dolls) in the crafts competition at the state fair every year, winning boatloads of ribbons. I still have a bathing suit that she made for me over 30 years ago!
And sing??? Holy cow, could she sing! She loved to sing, and spent much of her life singing in church. There was a tape of her from when she was a teenager playing last night.
A wonderful mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. She will be sorely missed, not only in my family but in her community.
A beautiful life from a beautiful person.

My husband and I were talking recently about how a beautiful legacy usually doesn't include money, but fun, character, honesty, hard work, and love for others. Sounds like your aunt left all those things for you all. I know you'll miss her.

She sounds like a super person, and one that will really be missed. I like and enjoy most of my relatives too, but other than my grandfather's..they were not and are not super stars. Well my sister is cool, but she isn't as nice as when she was younger honestly.
