Thoughts for When I Go Back On Low Carb....

I have been researching a bunch over the past week or two about how to get the nutrition I need since I don't like most fruits and veggies. One thing I have found is something called Keto Chow. It comes in a powder form like protein powder...but it has all the nutrients needed in a diet (most anyways). All you do is add a fat source and water and mix in a blender. Each scoop is a meal, and has 1/3 of the nutrients needed daily. Some people have it for all three meals a day, while others just have it for 1 or 2 meals and have the other meals as actual food. I do want to try this, but at first it may have to be just one meal a day because of the price. I could honestly be happy drinking the shakes 3x a day over eating food....but that's probably not possible for now. One bag is around $65 and is enough powder for 21 meals (one week's worth if you have it 3x a day). However, if you do the math it is a little over $3 per meal, so it really does not come out to a lot...and all the extra you are buying is a source of fat (butter, heavy cream, olive or avocado oil). Have you tried Keto Chow, or a similar meal replacement? Did you like it? If you haven't, would you? I understand most would rather eat their calories than drink them....but if you are a picky person like me, this might just be a lot easier! I was thinking to get some ordered (just one flavor of course for now) and start using it in August. I am going back on low carb before then of course.

I think it's like herbalife here. I still want to enjoy real fruits and veggies.

Well that is good that you still want to enjoy real fruits and veggies; but for someone like me it's perfect haha. Yeah I think it is something like that though, but this is super low carb

@florelway Yes that is for sure....if you have 3 it's around 20 total carbs...but probably only 5 net! So very low carbs if you eat it for all 3 meals.

@MommyOfEli2013 one good thing about that is you are able to monitor your carb intake.

@NJChicaa Yes, I do for sure....and I know they would work, it's just a matter of being able to buy at least enough for 1 shake a day.

I've heard that most of those nutritional drinks are very high in sugar content. I'd be afraid that these shakes would drive your blood sugar through the ceiling!

@kobesbuddy yes, I think it would be, going to start with adding it at least once a day.

Not these, each serving only has around 6 carbs, which are mostly fiber, and then it is sweetened with sucralose. People drink this one to help them stay in ketosis, which can only happen if blood sugar is low. Edit: I looked it up...and the sugar in each scoop is less than 1 total gram.

@LindaOHio I will, I would love to be able to drink it 3x a day for a while and then have my a1c tested....but I couldn't really afford that!

I heard they are doing carnivore, which is by default keto because of the low carbs, high fat and pretty high protein. I will keep everyone updated if I'm able to afford it and try it out

That's good that you love fruit....and I understand that not everyone would enjoy a meal replacement shake!

Oh yes, for sure. Also has a lot of potassium (around 1,500 mg per scoop) and a lot of other needed nutrients that I miss out on.

I couldn't do shakes like that for every meal. I need real food. I hope it works for you.

I definitely understand, some people want, or need to be able to chew real food. I honestly don't care as long as I get full. I do think 1 or 2 shakes a day would be good.
