Are We Really Cricket Lovers Or Pretenders?

Today is the final day of the Cricket World Cup Tournament where New Zealand and English are playing the finals and whole World is watching! Unfortunately, though we Indians claim that cricket is our religion we are not enjoying the final match with open hearts. No gathering to cheer up any team and to enjoy the actual sport of the Cricket with friends and relatives. The sport of Cricket itself is a great and there is a lot of enjoyment in the game with so many techniques and styles to be watched and enjoyed irrespective of the teams participating! Yes, every citizen misses his/her country in the Finals it fails to reach there but I think a country like India where we live cricket, declare that the cricket is religion for us and we have God of Cricket is with us, it doesn't suit that our country is giving such a cold shoulder to the Finals of the tournaments! Frankly speaking ...may I ask...do we truly love the Cricket sport? Or we love love our team winning the sport?

I love sports and love to watch a thrilling game. Yes if it's India, the fun gets doubled. Though India is not playing, I followed the game. I had a movie ticket booked and could not watch NZ batting. Husband booked the tickets in advance without realizing that it's on the same day as final. But since it's a working day for me tomorrow, I might have to go to bed. I am already feeling tired. Had it been for India, maybe I would have stretched myself a bit

That is true any one likes our home team winning the tournament. I am happy to know that you have followed the tournament despite the team was out of it! I understood how badly you were tired to follow the match! But see sometimes somethings happens in our life which leave us in repentance! This I am saying if you have missed the final moments of the match...which were unbelievable and very special...worth mentioning to every one that we had the opportunity to watch those moments!

@arunima25 , Yes, that is individuals opinion...but one must remember that the rules are made in advance and the referees are suppose to follow them in whatsoever situation!

@AKRao24 I didn't as I couldn't. It was so thrilling. I missed my sleep for that matter and covered it later after breakfast. The match was a delight for any cricket fan. It was historical though I was not happy with the way decision was made.

It's very common that people are crazy when it comes to their country playing any sport...and a country like India where cricket is a religion it becomes more crazy.... Though I personally appreciate the game over this whole concept of my country playing

I agree that I also love that my country's team must win the tournament...but if it is not making in the finals ot doesn't mean that every one of us including people, mass media and social medias are shunning the Tournament! Just imagine....if England lost the game then ....do you think people in England who are genui9nely interested in Cricket would have missed to witness the match?

The issue is my father is watching Wimbledon finals so I don't get to watch cricket. But I do check on the score now and then. I did not like unnecessary controversy created between Kohli and Rohit Sharma. The duo needs to address the issue in press saying these are all rumors. Rayudu was miffed and passed a few comments, leading to some issues. VVS and Tendulkar had scathing comments for Dhoni even though his performance throughout has been better than Pant and DK.

I can understand your problem dear Vany! You must have fund that the score was interesting one especially at the end of then match! These things are common at this juncture where we lost the semifinals like an amateur team! If we look at these comments and try to analyse them, we are not going to gain anything out of them! I believe in only thing that we had an excellent team and the lady luck was playig bit naughty in this tournament...which is very evident from last night's result! So one shouldn't be too serious about such issues and behave like a immature person! Lets cheer our players and boost their Morales!

That is what I learnt from the sportsmen and sports people as I was just a technical person in the field of horse racing which is a Royal sport! Thanks a lot, I will try my level best to be on this site , as much as I can do! Dear Judy...Have you followed the World Cup tournament completely? Yesterday's finals was unbelievable and rare to witness....that is why one should love the sport to witness! I am sure most of the Indians must have missed yesterday's match!

@AKRao24 I didn't see the match but heard about it. And the final match of the Men's Singles at Wimbledon was another milestone event.

@AKRao24 I know absolutely nothing about the sport, It appears similar to our baseball but when one looks a bit closer it is very different. Ah well, it is a big world.

The real answer is that we are too passionate about our team than the sport. We were expecting our team to be part of the finals and perhaps win. Unfortunately, we were unlucky and we have been unhappy about both teams who are in finals. Well, perhaps we could see the world cup returning to us in the next edition. Anyways, this phase will soon fade and we would start supporting our team against the big names. So, not to worry!

That is very true that we are very passionate about our team! It was natural to expect our team to win as we were doing exceptionally well in the tournaments! Getting the trophy back is another question! Yes, today since we have arrived to a point where we can boast about ourselves as Champions. In 1983 when the tournament was on we used to listen the commentary on Transistor radio and in one of the match in the tournament, I had a get together at my place and one of my friend was keen in listening to the commentary than on the get together! when I asked him the reason he said if India wins that day that my get entry into the quarter final which would be a great pride for us! You know we won the World Cup where the score was just 183! There after, along with the team members , we Indians realized that we are real champions and can repeat this feat! There after the happenings are simply history creators!
