If I am myLotting, I forget that I am/was eating something... I get caught up in talking to people, usually on their discussions, only to find my food cold/dried out/inedible after some unspecified amount of time later... And it drives me crazy! I can't believe I wasted a perfectly good bowl of watermelon! By the time I remembered I'd cut it and brought it back to eat, five hours had passed. I, determined to eat, took one bite and spit the watermelon back into the bowl! *sigh* So, I'm going to go back to the kitchen, cut some more watermelon, and eat it before I come back to talk to people about this problem. See you all in about half an hour.

The next time, place the cubes in the freezer and then make a watermelon Margarita.

@DaddyEvil I think you have lost enough weight without trying to lose more. I know that I should drink more water, but I cannot drink if I am not thirsty.

@LadyDuck I am very sorry, Anna... I shouldn't have said anything about that and normally wouldn't have mentioned it at all. I was feeling a little... uhm... off this morning, I can't honestly ask you to forget what I wrote but will you please not mention it again? I would really appreciate that.(I will admit... I have a problem but I am not willing for others to know to what extent I have a problem. I hope you are the only one who read that.) Ahhh... at least it served a purpose, this once... I am glad you decided to get your drink of water. *lightly grinning at you*

@LadyDuck *smiling at you* Thank you, Anna. I appreciate the sympathy. I drink soda, sometimes, fruit juice and plain water most of the time. I hate drinking plain water! (My doctor wants me to stop drinking the soda and the juice. She says she tells me that to help me lose weight. *roll my eyes* I've lost 45 lbs without her help. Why she keeps telling me to stop drinking them is a puzzle to me. *shrug*)

That is funny. It must be you, as soon as I opened up your post and began to read my phone started going off. So I stopped reading and answered a text. And picked up reading again and got another notice and had to respond, and even as I key in this sentence I have had to stop and read another text. I have read this post at least twice, now I feel that I have a vague idea of what is going on at your place because its going on right here too.

@Gillygirl I know, he was early and really persistent on his texting this morning. The 'he' that I'm referring to is our beloved son. He can go days without texting me and then if he starts some days he just cannot stop and he writes a short novel over a few minutes.

(We are half-way through one in the fridge and have two more resting on the dining room floor, waiting their turn!)

@crazyhorseladycx I've heard of and eaten all of those things except for the deep fried watermelon, Crazy. I've never heard of anyone doing that! (It sounds gross to me!) If you're ever brave enough to fix deep fried watermelon you should tell me about it. (Not that I'm willing to give it a go, though. I have to draw the line somewhere! )

Hmmm... you think so? Usually, when I'm eating watermelon that's the ONLY thing I'm eating! (I don't know where you live but I live in Missouri. I lose more weight sweating than I gain from eating watermelon. That isn't a joke. I got lost in the desert 25 years ago and had heat exhaustion, sun stroke and heat stroke. I sweat heavily and will sweat even when everyone else is wearing heavier clothing to protect them from the cold. I start sweating at 70 degrees, standing still.)

@cperry2 Hmmm... have you ever been to Missouri anytime during the year? If not, may I extend an invitation to come stay a week or three with my daughter and I? You'll never forget the experience, I can guarantee that! If you decide to come during the springtime, may I suggest you be prepared for seeing your normal winter weather when it is cold enough to make your teeth chime like bells if you get a bit too rambunctious with your flat wear? (Lots of rain, only here it is called snow, sleet and ice direct from heaven!) If you'd prefer summer time to visit, you'll find they don't make clothes light enough to both protect you from the scorching sunshine or absorbent enough to keep you from melting in your shoes (Mostly we wear sandals during the summer. They let your feet sweat without feeling like you're swimming in your shoes.) If you'd be interested in experiencing Missouri weather during the fall month(s) (more like a few days of beautiful scenery and blistering heat or monsoon rains the rest of the fall.) then you're still in luck! Dodging weird tourists who think they own the earth under their feet can be fun, especially when they're driving those honking big vehicles classed as passenger cars that are wider than both lanes in our highways, combined! And they don't believe you're entitled to any of the roadway at all! (I've had them drive down the center of the highway and look at me like a bug on their windshield when I get stuck in the mud because they forced me off the road!) But then, the fun begins! I have one of those video cameras attached to my dash that lets me go to the police and sue the crap out of them without them even knowing I'm doing it until the sheriff shows up with a bench warrant for their arrest! Most of us here have and use those things now. Yeah, it was a good day when Missouri actually moved into this century! (It's really strange (read that to say funny as all get-out) when the tourists who treated you like a cow patty on the road of life go bankrupt paying for court costs and the money the judge awarded you for damages to your cheap, old beater! Just so you are aware, that has happened several times lately... not with me, but still it's something the tourists should be aware has happened.) If you really believe you love the winter, all that frosty morning air, clear views everywhere, big mounds of snow ready for you to hit the slopes, then Missouri is still your best place to experience it! Come on down! I'd love to show you the sights and let you enjoy the quiet scenery (Yeah, Missouri only has one or maybe two colors during the winter but white and mud can be beautiful if you look at them right.) of our pastoral highlands. This is a great state to live in and even to visit, if you've a mind to do so. After a lifetime living here you actually might grow to love it. Stranger things have happened. Okay, so some of that was just plain bull, but a lot of it is really true. In this state, you never know what you'll find the next time you go outside. (There is an old saw here about if you don't like the current weather, wait five minutes... It will be doing something totally different!) Really, come stay a while. You'd be more than welcome.

@DaddyEvil My son in law is like that. He sweats at the mention of heat or exercise. Me, I live on the Oregon Coast, for us, 70 degrees is very warm. Our usual summer highs are around 65 to 68. Nothing like having the cold Pacific Ocean nearby to keep the temps down. Of course, we get lots and lots of rain. Mostly during the winter months though.

Oh, yeah, we quit buying watermelons last month, even though they are still available here. (Towards the end of the season for watermelons they start tasting like cucumbers to us, so we stop eating them when that happens.) When was the last time you ate watermelon? (I froze some of the last good watermelon we had, I thawed some of it a few days ago. It was still delicious!) You're always welcome to come visit and try some of the watermelon with me.

Yes, when I get to playing and having lots of fun talking with my friends, I lost track of time, bad! *shake my head* You wouldn't believe how many times Pretty has asked me to take her somewhere and I tell her to let me finish what I'm writing to someone. (Usually, an hour or so later, she starts knocking on the wall between our bedrooms and asking if I'm ready yet. ) We eat them all summer long. I buy them two at a time because one only lasts us a day and a half or so.

@mom210 We've kept some of the seeds from two different types of watermelon that we thought were extremely good this year so we could plant them and hopefully grow some ourselves this next summer. Your prices for watermelons must be higher than what we've been paying, then... I've been giving about $2.50 each for the ones we've been eating. (I will confess I paid $10 for one of them, though. I bought it from a guy who lives in Arkansas along the Arkansas River. Every time we bought watermelons that were grown along that river the watermelons tasted really delicious. We usually can only catch that guy once or maybe twice all summer long.) When I was little my dad always planted five acres of watermelons. Those were the best tasting melons! I've grown watermelons a few times since I grew up. Usually I didn't have the room to let them spread out and do their best. *shrug*

@DaddyEvil 2 at a time, wow, you do love it. I have noticed the price around seems a bit more than I am used to paying for it. We have not had many this year because of that but we do love them. Never have been able to do very well with them in my garden though.

Well.... the "problem" may not have been as dire as I implied/said, Valerie. I considered it a good topic to post on myLot since I'm positive I'm not the only person who has done that. Twice this past summer I had to help Pretty clean ant nests out of two of her computers because she eats while playing on her computer(s). Apparently, she drops enough crumbs into the keyboards that ants consider the interior of her laptops good real estate with plenty of food for growing colonies. (I did have to insist she quit eating at her computer(s). After clearing the ant colonies out, neither pc would boot up again.)
