Username or Password?

How many times have you tried to log into an account and had the message pop up, "Username or password incorrect"?
I can be looking right at my password list, type the password and username in very carefully and still get this message. So is it my username that's incorrect? Is my password incorrect? Help me out here! What I usually end up doing is changing my password; and then I can log in because my username 95% of the time is my email address.
What's even more annoying is when you've done all that and you still can't log in; and the site's Help staff either doesn't respond or gives you instructions to change your password -- which you've already done. I can't tell you the number of sites that I've not been able to log into!

I keep an address book with the names of the sites alphabetically. I also have a spreadsheet with passwords for the survey sites I belong to. It's a LOT of passwords.

yea,i've run into a couple of sites both were 100% correct and it still didn't go through.stupid server probably dumped me.

Oh yes....it does get annoying when they don't tell you WHICH one it is!! I usually have the same username though, so if I forget the password I just request a new one/change it.
