good morning/afternoon/evening, mylot! how have you been?
you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover or a person based on looks. humans make assumptions, it's not the best decision but we tend to do it. and we can often judge someone and be very, very wrong.
I am very shy when I first meet new people and because of that, people often assume I am cold or mean. but that's not true! I just take a bit of time to open up to people. once I know you, believe me, I won't shut up!

People assume that I don't have a mental illness. They say things like: "Is it really true that you have anxiety and depressions? You seem so happy and friendly. so....normal" If they had seen me while I was in the psychiatric hospital they would have gotten a different impression

I'm sorry you've had to go through that. I've had family members with depression and many people on the outside also assume they're so happy. have a hug from the other side of the internet

Yes, people who don't know us well sometimes think that we are happy. "You don't seem mentally ill" I hear that a lot.

People might think I'm standoffish or not approachable. I am a bit shy around people I've just met and don't immediately open up. This is probably why they feel this way. I guess exactly like you

People often think that b/c I have physical ailments, I must be intellectually impaired as well, though I'm really not.

@isweartokira true, it's usually due to innocent ignorance, once I get to talking to them though, they know my mind is fine.
