Monday Meanderings

I generally like Mondays. Everyone else goes off to work or class and I have some time to myself to decompress and clean up after the weekend. This summer has kind of messed that up.
Both of my daughters have changed their work schedules so that they get Monday off every week. My bonus daughter is off of work on Mondays. Every third week my husband has Monday off.
Mondays have been busy and not particularly quiet.
This morning I took two of the girls to the lake to kayak and swim. I have a small kitchen burn on my arm that really needed to be kept out of the water (I’ve seen entirely too many flesh-eating bacteria headlines in recent months) so while the girls and the dog parked their kayaks on an island, I took some time to paddle around some of the various inlets and coves.
It was quiet. It was peaceful. I really didn’t want to go back home.
I enjoy spending time with my family, but I’m looking forward to being able to clean my house in peace in a few weeks when summer vacations end and normal schedules resume.
Do you thrive on interaction with others, or are you an introvert, like me, that enjoys a bit of peace and quiet with no other people around?

@SophiaMorros I hope so. I find it's like having people around saps all my energy.

This summer has been driving me crazy it seems there is ALWAYS someone else underfoot. Come August the bonus child will move out and the daughters will be back in class. Hopefully I'll get a bit more space then.

I'm a little of both. I enjoy being around family and friends, but at the same time I value "me-time." I also enjoy kayaking, but I have never done it just by myself. I always go with my son, as it is something we both love to do. Even with him alongside me, I still find peace and solitude paddling the river.

@SophiaMorros How old are your girls? Obviously old enough to leave alone for a little while? I'm glad you got a chance to do a little solo kayaking.

@moffittjc my girls are 18 and 20. It was the oldest and my bonus daughter, (who is 21) that I left unsupervised.

That was my first time out solo. The girls wanted to swim and I didn't. So I abandoned them.

@sophiamorros Family is lovely but peace and quiet is necessary. I get sent out of the house regularly so that my wife can be home alone!

My husband gets his feelings hurt when I tell him to go away... He is not an introvert and find the rest of us difficult to understand

I am more of an introvert at home.

I prefer to be by myself pretty much anywhere.

I would love a day on the lake. I want time to me at home and go out to interact with people.

My day on the lake was only about an hour and a half...but it was time much enjoyed.

I love to have some days with no one but me. I will be going back to work though, so that is not going to happen.
