My dad is going to have more amputated....

Perth, Australia
July 26, 2019 7:10am CST
I am very very exhausted so I'm just going to do some dot points to make it a bit quicker. *Nurse recently told my dad to get his toe checked out by a doctor ASAP as it was weeping. *Dad saw a doctor, had some tests done but not much was said. *The tip of that toe that was / is weeping has started to go black. *Dad took photos of his toe and texted them to his surgeon. *Surgeon told my dad to see him. ( saw him at 6pm last night ) *The tip of my dad's toe has gone gangrenous and has to have that amputated. I'm not sure when the surgery will take place but that is the update for now. This year....if only you guys knew everything that has been going on but it has been such a sh*tty friggen year. From start to now. I swear I'm not exaggerating. Literally from January to now, has been hell. Not every day of course but this year....full of worry, stress, sickness, near death, actual death, betrayal, guilt, operations, Nanny being sick, Poppy being sick and memory issues, family issues, friend issues, money issues.... I'm just so exhausted. I'm not asking for sympathy. I'm just venting. I'm not open about everything to you guys as I tell specific stories to my best friends / psychologist but I will just say that a lot has been going on and I'm just so tired.

@VivaLaDani13 I hoped so much that the doctor could take care of the infection without a new surgery.

@LadyDuck Thank you. If I have this all correct, this is all a new infection. He was completely fine not too long ago but seems we are about to take a little step backwards. I'm feeling awful for my dad. He seems ok and is ready to have the tip of his toe gone rather than it spread to his foot. But I still feel awful as his foot is starting to hurt. Making me cry as I just want him to be ok.

Big hugs, I know the feeling. I am glad you can at least share some here and you have other caring people to talk with. I will pray for your dad. I am impressed that the surgeon got back to him so quickly.

@VivaLaDani13 I was thinking of this again last night. My 88 year old dad is in a similar boat, and we do not know when the surgery will happen. He is in the hospital now.

Oh, dear! I can understand that you're having rough days now. This year has brought you with all the new challenges and it's surely tough, I know. I don't want to talk philosophy here for motivating you and stuffs. But, one thing - this will not be constant like this. It's just testing times and will surely pass soon. These things makes your skin even more thick and that's how you learn and arise in your life. I'm sure you will have another point in your life soon, where you would have crossed all these hurdles and you will see how strong you were and that will surely be a good memory for it gives a good learning. Just be bold and keep it going. My prayers and regards for your dad.

@VivaLaDani13 Oh, I understand Dani! I could see that you're feeling that you're just trapped inside a pot full of darkness. I have had the same feeling sometimes. It would be so tiring with so many negative things around and you can't even explain what's going on, in our head. I truly get this feel. I'm sending you all the positive vibes from my end. I'll also keep your dad in my prayers. You just relax a bit and I'm wishing you a better times ahead.. hugs and cheers!

@smileyhema I understand where you are coming from. I am aware that this cannot last forever but as much as I believe that, it doesn't make me feel any better. A lot of what has happened has been really awful but in regards to just my dad's situation alone, I am still terrified of losing him. He is doing better but he isn't out of the woods yet. I'm just exhausted as it's not like I've never been through a tough time before. I've had a LOT of them and I'm just tired I guess. Thank you very kindly for your answer. I appreciate it and appreciate you stopping by.

@Janet357 I am aware that everyone has their problems so please don't think I believe I'm the only one. But reality is, that when others are going through things, it doesn't take away anything that we are going through. I am so sorry that you have been having a bad year also. I really do wish you the very best and hope things will improve for you!

I am sorry to hear all you are going through. I went through that about 2 years ago. My husband had his big toe amputated and, eventually both legs. He lives in a nursing home now. But it was rough so I know how it is. We see him three times a week. He has a cell phone, so we talk all the time. I wish you the best.

@VivaLaDani13 Thank you, but its better now. At the time I couldn't see that it saved his life. There are so many amputees, you wouldn't believe. Good thing the doctors found it in time.

@popciclecold My goodness. I feel so awful I am so sorry. I will admit I'm feeling so bad for you and your husband and now bloody terrified that this is what's going to happen to my dad. NOT blaming you for making me feel bad I'm just saying...it scared me. I'm just so sorry for what your husband had to go through. I thank you so much for your answer and wishing me the best.

@VivaLaDani13 You are welcome. Just remember to be strong and anything you do not understand, ask his doctor or his nurse. The nurse usually doesn't tell you everything that the doc will but you will most likely see more of the nurse. If you have to set up a meeting with the doctor and your family, don't be afraid to ask anything. I did that alot when my parents were in the hospital.

@ramapo17 I have no need to do this as my dad asks all the questions he needs to ask. I have no reason to see his nurse or doctor. My dad has all that side under control. He now has to see a nurse every day to get his bandages redressed so at the same time, they are looking at his foot / toes and then discuss any changes or setbacks etc. So all good there. No need for me to go hold his hand for all that part. And thank you so much. Being as strong as I can for sure.
