The centre pole in our shed is no more

Well, we’ve removed the centre pole from the opening of our shed and it hasn’t collapsed around our ears so that is a good thing. Vince made the beam yesterday and this morning the neighbour brought up his forklift and hoisted the beam into position. Vince and his brother positioned the beam and the three holes we had pre-drilled all fitted quite well so within perhaps ten minutes we had the beam in position and our neighbour was able to go back to his fencing.
Later Vince drilled more holes and there are now six bolts holding the beam. We then cut out the pole with an angle-grinder. The only thing left to do now is to position a base plate to hold the bottoms of the doors when they are closed. Tuesday we’ll return the scaffolding, Wednesday we have friends coming for lunch and Thursday we leave again for another endurance ride.
And I nearly forgot – tomorrow night we’re taking Vince’s brother and wife out to tea as a thank-you for their help and also to celebrate my birthday. It has been a good week with sunny skies and a job well done – if I do say so myself.

@crazyhorseladycx Thanks for the good wishes. We love doing work like fixing the shed. We are lucky to have most of the tools we need now - although we didn't have a forklift!

The doors have to run into a channel at the bottom and we put that in this morning. It is removeable so there is nothing sharp that might puncture a tyre. So it is completely finished now. Shortly, we'll go down and dismantle the scaffolds ready to return them in the morning. It's another beautiful day here.

@1hopefulman I think that, however large a shed is, you manage to fill it up! However, we are able to get at the things we need without too much trouble.

The caravan is stored in there normally. There is a friend's trailerload of household items, our own 6' x 4' trailer, a ride-on mower and a horse-drawn jaunting cart plus tools and odds and ends. Most of the stuff for our concerts is there too.

Great job on a successfully completion to your project! I'm glad everything turned out perfectly for you and Vince.
I love how you quietly slipped in the comment about your upcoming birthday! What day is it on? I think we should have big worldwide party to celebrate!

@JudyEv You turn 29 this year, right? Don't get to wild and crazy with the celebrations, especially at the Chinese restaurant.

@moffittjc I had a single candle sitting in ice-cream with a pineapple fritter round it.

That machine has a 17-metre lift (I think that's right). It was ideal for this task. I love watching stuff work too. I watched a machine chopping of a tree, then stripping the side branches and bark before cutting it into designated lengths. Amazing!

@JudyEv I love that stuff - my new favorite TV show is barn builders. They folks go around Kentucky and Tennessee and look for old barns to use to build new houses!

Quite the production. Glad working so well. You all deserve a night out for tea, nothing stronger. Stays safe that way I suppose.

Yes, the whole thing went according to plan and that doesn't always happen. We'll be leaving soon for our celebratory dinner.
