Whoop, Whoop - Second Order for Fresh Eggs

I'm excited guys. I just got my second order of yard fresh eggs placed. I sent a dozen to one of my daughter's bosses last week. He had been paying $5 a dozen for medium-size fresh yard eggs. I told him that I would send him large eggs for that price. He ordered a dozen to try them and was happy. YAY. Fresh eggs usually go for $3.00 to $.50 a dozen around here. I'm excited because this will now scratch my feed bill to $0 per month and put me on the plus side. I won't miss a couple of dozen eggs. I will still have plenty for my family. I do worry about the molting season when the hens slow down in laying. It may get tight then but I could go every other week with him and still be good. Photo: Pixaby, public domain

They taste so much better than store-bought eggs.

That's great. The heat is probably why my hens are slowing down.

Oh yay, another chicken mama . Mine has slowed down also. I was actually wondering if this was a sign of early autumn and early start to molting.

@sallypup I have 16 hens and 2 roosters. I think that count is right..ha. We will have to keep an eye on the molting and compare notes. I think animals know about weather changes before we do.

My daughter actually instigated this. He had asked her for eggs but they only have about 7 and more people in the house. They use theirs as soon as they are laid. So she called me. We are going to see how it goes.

Good for you. I always find it surprising how long they say the eggs I buy at the supermarket can last. Yard fresh are definitely better. Too bad I live so far away.

Yep, and you can imagine that they are several weeks old when you buy them too. Love our fresh eggs.

That’s terrific! I always wished I could have my own chickens, but our Town won’t allow it.

That is how it is in most towns and cities, especially within the city limits. I don't have to worry about that here out in the country.

Most towns don't because of the noise they create.

You are certainly not laying an egg with your business.

No business here. Chickens are too much work. But what if I got a golden egg? We have white, brown, green, beige, and pink.

I never really intended on selling them. We usually offer extras to the girls and other friends and family members. I should still have enough to go around.
