My UnderArmour clothes are getting stinky again

Yes, I wash my workout clothes every time after I wear them. They are all clean when I put them on. The problem is that the moisture-wicking fabric tends to start smelling after awhile even when it is fresh out of the washer and dryer. I found a great laundry detergent called Rockin Green that does an excellent job of removing the odors. It is a real phenomenon--if you google smelly UnderArmour or UnderArmour stink you will find dozens of mentions of it. Anyway Rockin Green gets the job done. . . but it is pretty expensive. I haven't used it in months because of, well, the cost and everything was fine. Now it is all getting stinky again so I'm going to have to freshen everything up with the pricey detergent. Luckily I don't have to use it for every single load of my workout clothes. That would be insanely expensive when I work out 3 or 4 times a week. Do you have UnderArmour clothing? Does it ever smell like my stuff does?

No, I use Nike and Adidas, and never had a stinky odor. I love Tide and Oxi Clean.

@NJChicaa I can’t imagine why it smells and holds odors.

@DianneN I don't know but it is a well-known issue.

My husband swears by OxiClean but it didn't work on this stuff. Only Rockin Green managed to remove the smell. I love UA stuff but it is high-maintenance!

It isn't funny. This brand of workout clothing is well-known to absorb odors.

YES! My daughter should be a spokesperson for Under Armour. That's all she wears most of the time and yes they stink like crazy. It is the material (and not just Under Armour as other sports companies use it). I have been adding vinegar to my laundry loads and that has done the trick. Probably a lot cheaper than what you were using. You might want to give it a try.

I have one underarmour piece of clothing, a tee shirt from the CIA (it reads Respect My Kitchen). I've never noticed any off smells to it.

Someone told me that adding baking soda to the wash cycle, will help keep clothing smelling fresher. Also, a tad bit of vinegar will do the exact same thing.
