I have been reading about money. Some friends need it badly.

And I have grown very envious. People who live in the US can work at several sites that only accept people from the US. I haven´t even been able to finish surveys, watch videos and do other jobs that meant getting giftcards. I don´t get that kind of money online because I don´t live in the 'right' country. Yet I have the same needs. And I now need extra money for my vacations and I don´t know how to do it. Still, there are soome people in the US who never could get money for a decent health or lodgings after a life of work. I am thinking about out friend Patsie Hatley. I hope red tape will end and we can send her money for her eyes or, at least, for a hearing aid. In my country, hearing aids are given by the health service. FREE:

Patsie’s son can barely care for himself, but he is her only hope. He must be her advocate.

The problem is, I don´t trust him. There must be another solution.

@DianneN This is when I think a social worker is needed. We have them here.

@marguicha As bright as she is, he lacks the get up and go attitude. I don’t know him, but that’s the impression Patsie gave me and from what I’ve read on here.

She needs someone to advocate for her, sometimes you have to jump through hoops I had to do that for my Afo’s (braces) but it was worth it! I wish she had someone to truly advocate for her!

Not sure what those sites are, but would certainly like to know. As we have volunteered for homeless groups and certain health networks and there are many in the USA doing without. We know people sleeping in cars, couch surfing (sleeping on a couch as a guest, but they own nothing in the house). We have met those not able to get medical help or help with food. The USA is certainly not the land many think it is. Patsie Hatley is someone many of us are concerned about and we hope she has her needs met. It is just sad, isn't it?

I lost hope in the American dream in my childhood. It is funny that many Americans are not aware of that. In my country, health care is much better. The government paid for most of the expense of my chemotherapy. There, you have to ask for charity.

Patsie is being taken care of by the state she lives in, this is how most elderly people live nowadays especially those who do not have a daughter to take care of them. At the age of 92 I am not sure doctors can help her condition. As for sending money, I would not. Because he son an apply for those services for her, her medicare will pay for medical needs.

I don´t understand how, when she was here and better, there was no medical center that could take care of her glasses when they were broken. And I don´t understand why the state does not have a way of getting her a hearing aid.

@marguicha Because a patient needs someone to talk for them, get all these appointments made and sometimes take them to them, f she has no one then it does not get done. these homes have A LOT of elderly and they won`t take time to just do for one.

Pretty sure that Patsie could get what she needed if her son would advocate for her.

I don´t know how your Medicare works. And I don´t understand why Medicare doesn´t give earing aids to elderly people. They are not even that expensive.

I was talking to a Bulgarian man that worked as a higher education lecturer. He earned $550 a month. Minimum wages are around $200 a month in Bulgaria. I feel sorry for Americans because health care is not free. My Lot has earnings and it lets me write what I like. A friend told me a survey site disqualifies her and then she doesn't earn any money. It is worth learning how to travel overseas cheaply.

@marguicha I asked a lady taxi driver about free medical care in the USA. She said she is a single mother and she is on it. Most seniors aren't though and I feel sorry for them. We saw an old man with sellotape holding his glasses together. In Egypt it was painful to see a disabled man crawl across a road. He should have been given a wheelchair.

@maximax8 Sometimes, as Sharon just said, people don´t know how to use what they can get. But a lady over 90 should be helped. And if her son does not do anything (as it happens with Hatley) there should be a social service who does.

I am sorry for any person, specially seniors, who don´t know how to manage the red tape and get much needed help in health.

I have been away from MyLot for a while but I'm glad to hear that Patsie is still going! Yes there are many opportunities to earn for the US and even for the UK where I am from but I notice from other sites I have been on that the opportunities are not there for all countries.

@marguicha Maybe because they want native English speakers but you won't earn much from online sites generally. I think they have hit an all time low at the moment as they all seem to be disappearing.

According to what some American users wrote, his son does not know very well what to do to have free help for his mother and they are going to send him messages with the right suggestions.

That should have been done years ago. But it is not the American users help. There should be an official way to care for people. Patsie worked for a lot of years.

@marguicha I have seen the messages on Facebook is son is not the only "Hatley", this means that there are other members of the family. Patsie worked for a lot of years and she receive around $1,000 a month as "Social Security", that is what many workers in Italy also get, after many years of work. The healthcare system is different, but the "Pension" not a lot higher in Italy.
