For those who aren't aware, Formaldehyde is used as a preservative. It's used in funeral homes, supposedly on clothes, and probably other places we don't know of or don't think of.
Back in the early 1900's, it was combined with milk sugar and made into tablets. It was believed these were good for the health of our throat. I will link you to an article about the uses of Formamint (the brand name) by a Ship's Surgeon.
*I originally came across this after viewing a vintage ad posted on one of my facebook groups.
Ah, the things we've survived.

@Marilynda1225 I remember all those photos and they made me sick, I could not believe that they ruined the life of so many humans.

@LadyDuck it was a pretty scary time back then. I remember seeing those photos too and how sad I was for the parents. Little did we know how something prescribed could be so dangerous.

It's no longer used, and hasn't been for quite awhile. It was worse than cancer. Caused abornmalities and deformities.

@JustBhem It's part of it. The Formamint was a product made in the early 1900's. It used formaldehyde and sugared milk.

To be quite honest, I'm not sure. I think they use it for the organs, but I believe they also use it in the makeup when composing a body for viewing.

There have certainly been some strange treatments tried over the years.
