Last year June 2018 we had our first pet shih tzu. He gets sick once in a while but last July he get really sick. The vet said our dog had a pneumonia. He had a hard time breathing but now his breathing is back to normal. Along with his pneumonia he got paralyzed. He can't stand and walk anymore. He just roll around. I don't know when he will walk again

His x-rays are okay he has no bone fractures. The vet just give medicine for his pneumonia but nothing for his paralysis. I don't know what's the connection with pneumonia and losing the ability to walk. The vet just say to massage his legs

They say it is not a stroke. First that happened to him is he lost his voice. He stop barking for a week then he looks to have breathing difficulty then next he can't stand up or walk anymore. His voice is back now and his breathing but he is still paralyze

Oh that’s sad that it affected his ability to walk. I hope the vets would restore his legs again. I really think he got the meanest pneumonia bacteria that it hit his muscles bad.

Can he move his front legs? If he could, you can make a little cart to hold his back end so he could run and play.
@averygirl72 (38848)

13 Aug 19
I think we will do that if he don't recover. That would really help
@akalinus (44366)

@averygirl72 It would make him feel like a dog again. He is probably depressed. I know the carts are expensive but maybe you can experiment with making one just for him.

aw, most sad that yer sweet lil pup's ailin' . i aint familiar with the breed, so did a lil net hoppin' to see what i could find (i've read through other folks responses'n yer replies). seems these lil pups 're prone to all sorts 'f health ailments. since the x-rays showed no fractures, i'm wonderin' if 'tis inflammation causin' this? massage 's one 'f the recommended treatments, 'long with acupuncture. physical therapy might be'n order?? i'd discuss such with the vets prior to any treatments though. ya could do more harm'n good. does he seem to be'n any pain? able to urinate okay? any possibility 'f a tick? my heart goes out to ya, hon. those pups 're not jest pups, they're family ~
