The Games We Play

Sometimes at work you just have to lighten things up a little bit. Not that we don't have our share of games we play all day long at work (we're guys you know). But still, sometimes breaking down some of the 'serious' is well...
Fun.
So, it happened that the boss was out of town and called and asked me if I was still in the office. "Of course, it's only 10 till 5."
"Fair enough," he said. "I am going to type up an order for Hanson. Needs to go UPS red. Can you take care of that and put it in the drop box?"
"No problem," I responded. He hung up. I filled the order. As I was leaving the office a bit after 5 pm he texted me to ask if I got the order. I told him I had. "Hanson is done," I said.
"Thank you," the boss replied. "Did it go red?"
"No," I said. "I couldn't figure out how to get the paint gun going and so I just shipped the parts in their regular color."
He proceeded to respond with a gif of Mr. Rogers flipping me off.

P.S. For those who are inquiring minds and are not familiar, when we ship something red it simply means we are going to overnight the package by air.

I'm glad your boss has a sense of humor.

I thought maybe he was just trying to see if you were still in the office. Then I pictured you flying back to work to quickly send the order!

Sounds like your boss was trying to check up on you to see if you were still at work. I had a boss once that would call my office phone at 4:50pm just to see if I was there, or if I had tried to sneak out a few minutes early. I always reminded him that I was a salaried employee, so I could come and go as necessary. He always forgot that part.

@porwest That’s a good one. I’ll have to remember that one in case I want to use it on my own boss.

@moffittjc lol. Sometimes you just have to let the boss know who's really in charge of things.

Interesting code word. Kind of like a hospital "code red" (a building fire) but much safer. Now that's the kind of humor Michael (The Office) Scott would enjoy
