Free-camping near a salt lake

We free-camped last night on the edge of Lake Ninan where we have camped before. We’d barely arrived when Vince got talking to a lady who pulled up in a car. She has relatives in the area and is a professional opera singer. She has also just taken up photography so she and Vince had lots to talk about. But isn’t it interesting who you bump into at odd places?
My collage shows the edge of the lake and the froth that accumulates when the wind blows across the water. I thought it looked a bit like snow. Lake Ninan is a salt lake. Australia has a great many salt lakes. When the natural vegetation is removed, some farms have trouble with salt rising to the surface of their paddocks and rendering them unsuitable for agriculture.

We have a few salt lakes here in the US most famously the Great Salt Lake in Utah.

It did look like snow to me.
And I totally agree that you never know whom you will bump into at odd places. And that can be quite interesting especially if you find your interests and frequency matching. I am sure you would have enjoyed your camping.

@JudyEv Even I realize that now after your comment. But trust me it does resemble to snow at least in a sudden glimpse.

@arunima25 I'm pleased about that!
Sometimes I've said that a food tastes like ants but I've never eaten ants so it's really a silly thing to say.

@JudyEv Nice shot. A couple of times we free camped as you like to say. One time I hated it because we had to walk through a field of cows to get to our spot and it was hot, plus no bathrooms, but the second time, we were lucky enough to be near a porta potty, and a convenience store wasn't far away. Both of those times, was because it was a holiday weekend and the nearby national park was overflowing with campers.

@snowy22315 That's the beauty of being retired I guess. You can perhaps dodge peak periods or at least avoid the most popular destinations at those times.

mankind 'll ne'er learn that what we do's consequences, eh? 'tis a beautiful lake. do they harvest 'n sell the salt? jest wonderin' if'n such's value they can profit from 'nstead 'f the farmin'. some salt waters 're so "heavy" one can jest float 'top with no effort, would this be so 'f this'un?

@crazyhorseladycx There is a 'Yacht Club' somewhere in the middle of Australia where the yachts are on wheels and they race on a dried salt lake. The yachts are still powered by the wind. I went looking for a photo and apparently yachts race on land in other countries too - but perhaps not on salt lakes.

@sueznewz2 Irish plates give the county and the age of the car which is a great idea I think.

That looks like a great place to camp. Our last trip was to the beach in NC (not so far) and it is always nice to get away.

Salt lakes don't look any different really except that some have a white sale residue around the edges.

Opera and free-camping are not things I would expect to go together.

Camping sounds fun. I am not familiar with salt lakes. I thought lakes should be freshwater
