It's high time that we set course for classic territory on this 50-song, randomly selected music countdown, and why not? You know this one (if you don't, I'm really not sure what to say.) We are at #46: "Time of the Season" by The Zombies. In 1968, while recording their second album, Odessey and Oracle, British rock band The Zombies had absolutely no idea that they had a classic on their hands when they made "Time of the Season." The band was not exactly getting along as it was, and vocalist Colin Blunstone hated the tune, and wasn't particularly thrilled that the songwriter, keyboardist Rod Argent, was demanding that he sing it a certain way (which he eventually did, but only after "suggesting" that Argent sing the tune himself.) In fact, The Zombies broke up shortly thereafter, never even having performed the song in concert. The song never charted in the band's native UK, despite being re-released twice, and only caught on a year after the group disbanded. And then, all of a sudden, BAM! #3 on the Billboard Hot 100. #1 in Canada. #2 in South Africa. Scumbag promoters assembled numerous fake Zombies bands to capitalize. And now you hear it everywhere. Movies. TV. The radio. Not all hits are great songs, and not all great songs are hits. "Time of the Season" is both. Even if it took awhile for everyone to realize it. (Info verified by Wikipedia)

This is one of my all time favorite songs. I loved it from day one. Thank you for the history lesson, I did not know any of that.

@cperry2 - I have a great fondness for 60's psychedelic rock, among many other genres. This is one of my favorites.

But is the Hoosier Daddy richer than say, a Pimp Daddy? Tougher than a Mack Daddy?

It's one of those songs that has been used so much that it would be very hard not to have heard it.

50 songs Heck using the word "of" in a song title should keep you music posting for the rest of the year BTW- great song along with "She's Not There" but, no OF in the title
