Politics

United States

Often times people warn about politics and sharing views on the subject. Clearly there are deep divides and potential for many harsh words. On the other hand, it is important to be involved in decisions that effect your life. I happen to enjoy this song, one because it makes me smile and sometimes I have to play it to get "people" to move on to other topics and secondly every download is donated to a charity that takes care of military families who have lost loved ones.

That's a good cause. I avoid politics and religion discussions as much as I can.

I generally steer away from political discussions, but what happens when you fall into one with out realizing that is where things are headed. Maybe it was just my ignorance that landed me there. I do not know.

I don't consider it forbidden and I try and tread lightly. I do like to learn.

Most people are afraid of the subject. Still it's all important.

I never heard this song before but I think talking about politics often turns into more of an argument than a conversation.

@Ghosthere2 I listened to a few seconds of it but I could not get past the country music and shut it off.

@Bensen32 No problem - I probably wouldn't love some of the music you prefer. That's what makes the world go round.

Politics are what they are. Politics, and things can get heated at times. BUT, as many people say politics do not affect their lives, nothing can be farther from the truth. When you look at countries like Cuba, Venezuela, many Muslim countries, and others, and you see the pain and the misery there...being involved becomes all the more important to ensure our own lives are not affected in this way.

If you don't stand up for something you will become the slaughtered sheep. We need to pay attention if we choose not to talk about it here.

Discussing politics can become very frustrating. I have my opinion but I'm more than willing to keep an open mind, hear the opinions of others, and possibly adjust my opinion accordingly. It can be very frustrating when people don't want to acknowledge actual facts and acknowledge them. But I guess that's what makes the world go round.

I like to hear what others think and try to keep my mouth closed.

Politics is the most controversial topic. It's once defined as a science of fooling people. Do you agree?

@Ghosthere2 It's not only a definition but it's actually happening.

@Ghosthere2 You're right for that. Politics here in our place is very dirty and dangerous. During election time, many had been killed especially those who are running for an elected government position.

I would certainly agree that could be one of many definitions.

It is funny you should post this at this time. In the past couple of days, I responded to a post that looked benign only to find out the writer had an agenda. Yes, it was hidden when I started, but when I stated my honest opinion to what he posted, rather than bothering to read what I stated, he stated he had no time to read my response but spent the next two hundred plus words telling me his opinion. I did not think this had been a political discussion but his opinion clearly stated that for him it was. In my opinion, if you are not willing to give others the space to respond, the courtesy to read their response, then by no means do you have the right to propound your political views at them.

At the risk of letting you know how uneducated I must be I had to look up the word "propound" and it said "put forward (an idea, theory, or point of view) for consideration by others." So while I am sorry you responded to something that what not what you thought I am thankful I learned a new word.

And by the way, the other person needs to learn a little more about tolerance.
