How to revive too small or too big t-shirts

So this handy tip comes to you from my mom. You will need a sewing machine and some very basic sewing skills.
Let's say that you have a t-shirt that you love the design on but it's too small (I imagine this would work with too big, too) . Neatly cut out the printed area you want - out of the old t shirt. Then buy a shirt in an appropriate size. Zig Zag stitch the patch that you cut out of your old shirt on to your new shirt. Ta da!
Now you can do other variations. You can save some of the rest of the material of the old shirt, and sew it on the wrong side of your new t-shirt. After it's sewn on, carefully take a scissors and cut into the new tshirt(revealing the alternate color of your patch under it).
Another variation which works well in the case of shirts with an all over design(such as tie dye) is to save large pieces of the old shirt. Turn your new shirt inside out and sew the large pieces on front and back. Now turn the shirt right way and make slices through your new shirt , this revels the old shirt's pattern that you have just sewn underneath. When you are done slicing pull on the slices to make them curl and look thinner.
I do hope this all made sense, it was harder typing this out than I thought. I have done this many times and enjoyed wearing some old shirts that I thought wouldn't fit again :-)
Happy sewing! Photo:Mine

It's good that you have such skill. I generally donate my old clothes. Some of the T-shirts I have used for rugs and mats.

Thanks! Oh wow - I didn't know you could use shirts for rugs, I would be curious how to do it

@FayeHazel We cut strips and my daughter has a small weaving frame. We use that.

It did make sense, but only because I've watched plenty of sewing videos. Unfortunately, I do not know how to sew, I just enjoy watching others do it.
The "peek a boo" effect is rather cute.

Oh good! I did alright then explaining.
I know what you mean. I love watching people paint, draw, sketch, but can't do many of those things. I also like watching the make up artists even though I don't do complex make up like that

@FayeHazel I watch the make up artists that do make up tutorials for like turning themselves into Jack Skellington etc. You know, the real special effects type artists.
I watch survivalists sometimes too, and abandoned world explorers type channels. Things I don't think I will ever do, but is fun to watch.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Some of those make up artists are amazing, aren't they? Abandoned exploration sounds cool too

@FayeHazel That’s true, but I like change whenever possible.

@DianneN Me too, usually that is. Sometimes I like sticking with old favorites :-)

@FayeHazel It's like explaining something on the phone and you find yourself waving your hands around trying to get your ideas across.

@JudyEv Oh yes, or those times where you say "it made sense when I thought it" lol

Ah, I just returned to it myself after many years. The nice thing is that it's like riding a bike once you know :-)

@porwest Lol. That is entirely possible. A relative of my mom did that - sewed her finger tip

@FayeHazel I am sure it is. I am pretty sure I would sew my hand to the table.

Alas. But for the most part, buying the fabrics, findings, etc... costs more than just buying a ready made item in most cases
