If you have been following me you have probably heard me mention "Rat Dog." That is her nickname, of course.
Rat Dog was a stray that just appeared at our house over two years ago. She is a mixed breed and has part terrier in her. I named her Jessie and she adapted to that name over time. She is a very well behaved little dog and sweet as can be.
My husband nicknamed her Rat Dog because he thinks she looks like a rat. Jessie has taken a liking to her daddy and greets him at his truck whenever he drives up from work every day. When he opens the door she hops inside.
It just amazes me how someone can dump off a sweet little dog like this. She has grown on us over the time she has been here and loves to have her belly rubbed. Her one bad habit is going with me to the mailbox and flopping on her back for her back to be scratched on the road surface. She listens to me when I tell her to get out of the street when I am walking back to the house.
Anyone have an idea of what other breed she may be mixed with? Jack Russell? Something else?

@just4him The howling started after a pack of wolves in the woods were howling one night. We had a litter of puppies from one of the strays then and someone in the gang picked up the howl. They were also small dogs. My german shepherd also learned how to howl. Saturday they alerted me to a package being delivered.

aw, she's a cutie! no idea 's to what she'd be mixed with. momma's one that the vet jest shakes his head 's to her breedin' - 'twas a rescue 'fter the hurricane mess down'n houston. very sweet pup 'n most well behaved, too.
we don't get many pups dumped these days. i reckon too many folks? they'd not wish to be seen doin' such a deed. most 're well mannered, many needed 'xtensive vet care (which they got). 'twas 'lways fortunate to find most fere'er homes 'n then kept a few 's i'd grown too 'ttached to part with 'em.

What a sweet dog. You certainly are lucky to have her; and she's lucky to have you! She's probably part terrier.

That's my initial thought. There is someone who apparently breeds Jack Russells around here too. I've had two of them dropped off here. Sad how many dogs we have adopted in the 11 years we have been here. The number has been in the 20's. Some have been hunting dogs that were abandoned or lost in the woods. I've have several that showed up and could barely walk being starved so bad. Luckily, I have had good success in rehoming them.

I think she maybe has a couple of types of terrier in her.
