My fear came true....

I had a hint that it is dengue. My household help's blood report is here and she has been tested positive with dengue.
Luckily her platelet counts are not so bad and she need not be hospitalized.
I requested other parent to drop daughter to school. I generally pick and drop these three girls to school. I went to doctor with the report. And the advice is to keep administering paracetamol every eight hours to control the fever and to give her diet that will improve the platelets count.
So on the way back I bought her medicines, tender coconuts, papaya, kiwi and pomegranate and dropped it to her house. I got enough oral rehydration solutions too to help her with her fluid content and energy restoration.I have given instructions to her sister and brother in law.
So it seems that for few weeks I will be without her and that means a lot extra chores at home. Her sister has offered to come as her replacement till then. Well, that's a bit of relief.
Her sister and brother in law work as tailor in one garment export comapany and that is just a few kilometers from my residence. They both worked in the same day shift. But as one of them have to be home to constantly monitor my help's health, they have requested for change in shift and there request is accepted. So wife works from 9 to 5 in day and husband from 8 to 2 in night.
She said that she will come to my home in the evening after her job and help me with few chores if not all. Even that will be a big help. But then I can not leave all cleaning till evening. So I have to plan things accordingly, do the needful in day time and leave few for her in evening.
If she comes to my home daily, I can send the fruits, medicines and other stuffs for my help through her. I need not visit her daily.
So a lot of plans have to be changed and few things have to be kept on hold for next few weeks till life comes back to normalcy.
Well, my head is spinning right now handling with all this. The word 'dengue' scares me to death.
I badly need a cup of coffee! My head feels numb for now.
I will head to kitchen to get me a cup of coffee. See you in some time.

In general, I find women who work tend to look after their house help well. It is the housewives here that seem to look down upon house helps, and folks working in government offices.
I think it is the need to tell themselves that they are better than the poor that makes them emphasize the difference by demeaning them. I may be wrong in my assessment but that is my conclusion.

Her platelets count is not so bad. So it's not critical. We have to give blood sample every alternate day to keep a track of that.

@vandana7 I think irrespective of who we are, every one has to be treated with dignity. My grandma was a housewife and she had a household full of staffs and she treated everyone like a family member. That's the basic humanity one should show.

@amitkokiladitya We can bring the change. I always feel that and I don't miss any opportunity to make people realize that in a very polite way. We pass it on to our children and other people.

Oh! Definitely. She is a big support system. I have limitations with my physical activity due to health issues. And doing the chores whole day keeps me away from doing things that I enjoy.

i'm glad they offered to help. you can leave the not-so-urgent tasks later in the day for her to do.
maybe you can still monitor her by making daily calls to your help to make sure she is taking her meds regularly and have proper nutrition and hydration, and check for any any changes

Her sister is good with chores. Quite efficient.
