The not for profit group called "Best Friends Animal Society" is very happy to announce that Delaware is the first state to adopt a no kill policy of dogs and cats that are housed inside of animal shelters in that state. If there is one reason that the state of Delaware has decided to adopt the no kill policy is due to the efforts of Linda Torelli who is the director of the Brandywine Valley SPCA which has three locations in the state has gained the approval of the majority of the citizens in Delaware to adopt this new law. The not for profit group is willing to assist potential families who are in the market to adopt a dog or cat from a shelter to learn the basics of taking care of their best friends by making sure that they are not able to overpopulate the pet population by making sure that the pets are operated on to control the pet population as "The Price Is Right" game show host Drew Carey says at the end of the popular game shows. Three cheers for the state of Delaware for adopting this rule.

This is good. We don't have this one in our country.

It is rare for any nation that I know of that does not have a no kill policy for cats and dogs in animal shelters since the shelters can only house so many pets at a time.

@Deepizzaguy Cats and dogs are butchered and cooked for foods of some group of people in our country. Our government doesn't bother. Just a handful of people complaining them in which falls in the deaf ears of the government agency concerned.

As long as the dogs and cats lead a good life, I´m glad for it. Animals should be spayed if needed so that there are no stray dogs or feral cats around. They can be dangerous for human beings, specially for children.

@Deepizzaguy It should be a law. Stray dogs are a menace. At least in poor neighborhoods where I live. Only recently there is a new law that compels dog owners to put a chip in their dogs. Thus, Luna could be traced if she got lost. That´s a first step. We must also have our dogs with rabbies vaccine up to date

@Deepizzaguy our local one puts down a lot. But a woman I know brought a no kill shelter. She has seniors pups, all kinds, cats ,dogs. I love what she does. We also have a big no kill, so thankful for that.

Same here. Since it would break my heart to adopt a dog or cat in a animal shelter that would put dogs down.

The goal of the not for profit group is to have 50 states have a no kill policy by 2025. Good luck with that.

Is there exceptions to the rule, like when the dogs and cats need to be euthanized for some valid reasons?

I heard about this and think it's great; but it will be very expensive.

That is true since the no kill policy also has its negative sides as well.

That is great to hear. Sometimes it just takes longer to get a pet together with an owner.

The good part is that the people in Delaware wanted that law to be passed.

That's good news but I do wonder how they'll find homes for all the homeless pets.

It is a good first step since the majority of the people in Delaware are in favor of that law being passed.

I cannot agree with that policy. Some animals have dangerous behavioral issues that will never be remedied.

You have a good point there since some animals cannot be assisted and need to put down for the safety of the public.
