Some people have a tremendously (worse than what's normal) hard time staying on topic when they write/speak. Now, I always attributed this to the fact that many these days seem to have ADD, but I've also read it COULD in some cases be a symptom of something called "disorganized schizophrenia".
I've heard all my life of schizophrenia in general, my father's father was afflicted with it. Only recently though did I learn there were/are subtypes/variations.

I have only met a few people who had disorganized schizophrenia. Their speech was hard to understand, not just because they jump from topic to topic, but because the sentences were incoherent as well. The sentence structure made it hard or impossible to understand the meaning.

Yes it is, I suspect there would be other tell tale signs though as well.

Disorganized schizophrenics (as I understand it) jump around from one topic to the next a lot more than what you'd see normally. @Janet357 I'd advise you not to freak out or try to diagnose yourself. You seem coherent from everything I've read that you've shared & your comments.
If you are simply having trouble focusing/concentrating on what you write/read, that could just be stress related or ADD.
