No Tax Day

We lucked out on Saturday in Boston on our anniversary getaway weekend. It was no tax day on purchases. I had planned to shop anyway, but what a huge savings it turned out to be!
I bought some gorgeous clothes, including an Escada baseball jacket and a Valentino blouse, shoes, three tops, a pair of pants, cosmetics, and a variety of products for my home. What a thrill not to have to pay any taxes on those items!
Can you guess how much I saved?

I"m happy for you but no tax day? Are you saying that Boston had a no tax day and anything you bought was tax free?

@1hopefulman I don't know, to be honest. I know many cities in the US do it for back to school shopping. I never took advantage of it. I found out about it once we got to Boston.

We have two different tax free holiday each lasting several days. The first is eofre the start of the hurricane season to encourage people to prepare with hurricane supplies being free of tax and then around the first few days of August we have tax free on school supplies, computers and clothing(up to a certain price)

@DianneN Heels is something that I'm never comfortable with. I have excessive lordosis and being on heels is not advisable for me.

@toniganzon I understand. Now days, I only wear them if I'm dropped off in front of a restaurant and picked up right after, then go home.

@LadyDuck Wow! That's a huge difference in taxes. When I shop in Europe, I always take advantage of the VAT. Otherwise, I'd go without.
New York City is outrageous, too. We have to pay city and state taxes there. Judy Story told me that her state of Oregon has no sales taxes. I wonder if a yearly trip is worth going there?

Great photo. Based on what you spent, you probably saved a zillion dollars in sales tax.

My guess is 29 bucks!
But then of course, from the husband side of the equation, I would say you probably spent more than you saved!

@DianneN I had a brilliant plant one year, I told my wife 10% less on the overall clothes budget. She nailed the actual budget right on (110% of the first budget spent).
The next year she spent 120, I said why so much over. She said I knew you didn't tell me the actual budget.
Husband math doesn't always work!
