Shoddy, do you know the word?

I know that English isn't the first language of many people here, so perhaps shoddy isn't a word that everyone knows. Today, a person might say "That's shoddy work!" meaning that the appearance of something is inferior or badly done.
Shoddy didn't always have a bad meaning. At one time "shoddy" was a type of cloth made from old cloth and sometimes more wool. However, as all things go, Shoddy began to be made with more inferior materials and thus the word began to have a different connotation.
For those curious, more info can be found at the link below.

I'm familiar with the word. It was used often when I was young but I never knew it was about fabric, learned something new, thanks.

Yeah, many words these days have meanings that were not intended originally @ScribbledAdNauseum

Shoddy is also a word that I grew up hearing or using a lot. I thought it was pretty cool that it had a more humble beginning.

When I was looking up this word, it made me also think of "roughshod" a word that I've heard used, and used myself before.

@LadyDuck Yes, that was one of my examples in the discussion itself.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Shoddy is also used to define something poorly done "shoddy workmanship".

That's not the English meaning of the word. Clutz is another word for clumsy.

Sorta.
