House Repair Update - 9/4/19

Hurry up and wait is the order of the day.
These contractors are so busy that the bids are being delayed coming in. I did place an ad today to sell the piano. I received one bid to clean the gutters and do the roof. The bids to clean the gutters and brush hog the yard that I've received so far are outrageous! The bids received so far to do the roof vary quite a bit. A couple of the roof bids are reasonable and affordable; so that's a good thing.
Well, no more news for now. Will keep you updated.

Do you have a neighborhood group on facebook? Ours does for our house in Louisiana and we share these kinds of recommendations there. It could be a good place to find some people who want the job and will get off their buns and give you a bid. I know the self-employed people in our area are very good at browsing those groups and getting work and then the word-of-mouth recommendations bring more work to them. Just a thought and I"m sorry this is dragging out for you guys.

@LindaOHio We still haven't gotten started on re-doing the house in Louisiana. Between all the health conditions between us and now with mom here, it's HARD.

@kareng Ours was imperative because of the roof leaks and the ceiling and wall damage....plus some other problems when they broke into the house and left the windows open.

We're having the same issues in our area of the country where construction and remodeling jobs are being slowed down because contractors and construction crews are so busy they can't take on additional work. Add in a shortage of skilled construction labor, and it's been delaying things quite a bit.

Sorry about the delays, that can be very frustrating! That's good about some of the roof bids being reasonable.
