Not Sure I Really Want To

I recently signed up for a free 10-Week Tai Chi class. It is offered at a local adult day care organization. The more I think about it, the more I feel that I really do not want to take the class even though it is free. I am sure there are instructional videos on You Tube. Now to find them. Tai Chi is great for strengthening muscle and for balance as well. Have you ever tried Tai Chi? Any suggestions as to where I can find free lessons online?

I probably will end up going at least to the first class. They may also cancel if they can't get enough participants. I was hoping that a friend of mine would join me. I'll bug her again. It's only once a week for 10 weeks. After watching the video I am doubtful I can actually do the basic movements at this time. My arthritis is bad in my knees and my left foot. We went to a fair last weekend and I walked for hours. My knees are still adjusting and forget about my left foot. I am in pain.

@crazyhorseladycx I really flared up the old arthritis from walking for so long. Should have rested more often. But, with the little one wanting to keep moving that wasn't an easy task.

I haven't ever tried Tai Chi. I think it is worth you trying it out to see if you like it. I tried Zumba dancing and it was really enjoyable. It is great to strengthen muscles and gain a super balance. Maybe there are free Tai Chi lessons on -line. I hope you find some on You Tube.

Unfortunately I have 2 left feet and that leaves me out for Zumba! Thought about it, but don't have the energy for that just yet.

What is your reason for not wanting to go to the class?

There are many of my clients in the day program. Many of them I do not wish to have contact with again for many reasons.

@BarBaraPrz I visit a few of my former clients, but those that I don't want to see, I keep my distance.

I am not sure about where online except YouTube. But I do Tai Chi my own version of it. It is great to keep flexible.

I have a problem with my left foot that is causing me quite a bit of pain. Hurts most when I walk on it and there is swelling too. Testing for Lyme because there was no sign of bone injury when they took an xray today.

@TiarasOceanView I do have Lyme. Sadly once you have it, it never goes away. I do have some pain in the foot still. Have been off it as much as possible and icing it when it swells. Chasing a 4 year old around doesn't give you much time to stay off your feet! And we are going to the beach tomorrow so I know I'll be on my feet a lot. I will however be able to soak the old dawgs in the salty cold water and that should help too!

I think you should go to one class and then decide, we love the classes we take at the senior center.

If they were held at the senior center I wouldn't have a problem. The people that go there most likely wouldn't be any of my former clients. But, you are right, I should at least go to the first one. Who knows, I may decide to stick with it for the entire 10 weeks.

I'd love to try Tai Chi, and probably will one of these days. Why don't you go to a couple of classes and check it out to see if you do in fact like it and would gain from doing the 10 sessions, you don't have anything to lose if its free.

I tried Tai Chi once but didn't really enjoy it that much. I didn't finish the course which was pretty slack of me.

I have always wanted to take the course that was offered years ago by our local senior center. They were held at one of the fire houses. Problem was the classes were held during the time I had to work.
