I See What You Mean

Greetings from sunny Denver, Colorado! (Well, other than that pesky 80% chance of rain in the forecast for today!)
Yes, we really are the Mile High City. One of the steps leading into the State Capital Building is exactly 5,280 feet above sea level. We are sports-crazy: One of just 13 cities with teams from the four major professional sports. Legal marijuana shops are everywhere. We have over 200 parks in Denver alone, with hundreds more located throughout the metro area. We have Red Rocks, THE best concert venue in the country. The city owns a buffalo herd, as well as an awesome ski mountain, Winter Park.
And all that a lot of people seem to want to check out when they come here is a giant blue bear.
The 40-foot bear, called I See What You Mean, is part of a sizeable public art exhibit located both inside and outside of the Colorado Convention Center, located Downtown. He was created by artist Lawrence Argent, is made of polymer-concrete, and has been checking out the goings on inside the Convention Center since 2005. (Argent, from Essex, England, died of cardiac arrest here in Denver in 2017.) According to Spencer McKee from the website OutThere Colorado, Argent based his curious bear on a newspaper photograph he saw of a bear peering into the home of a Colorado resident (not an uncommon occurrence. We have lots of bears here!) He was challenged to create a piece of Colorado-themed art that was not the usual cliche, say, mountains and skiing and the like. Hence, a giant, inquisitive bear.
Just another thing that makes Denver so damn cool!

We have lots of bears here! And they asked him to do a "Colorado-themed" piece that didn't involve the usual mountains/skiing/cowboys/Broncos stuff that everybody does. So a bear, it is!

@dgobucks226 - We have lots of cool art here. This thing in front of the Pioneers Museum in Colorado Springs is an I.M. Pei piece!

@teamfreak16 Haha. I guess it gives people a bit of a shock to suddenly see it out the train window.

The neat thing is that one of the light rail lines goes right past him. You don't even have to get off the train to see him.

Lots to see and do here. The traffic sucks, but it's still a great city.
