Generator problems, part 2

I know you're tired of hearing this. I'm tired of writing it. And I pray there won't be a Generator problems, part 3.
Yesterday, the ice maker in our refrigerator stopped working. Okay, an ice maker shouldn't be too awfully expensive to replace.
We went to church with some friends yesterday, then several of us went to a local restaurant for lunch afterwards. Had such a good time...great preaching and being with friends.
After that, my husband and I drove to another town to Lowes to get a washer. Due to the hurricane, they didn't have the washer I wanted, so we drove to another town farther away and got the washer. Came home, husband hooked it up, and so far it's working fine.
But this morning we discovered that our refrigerator isn't working. Wonderful. Thankfully I didn't have it full of perishable foods. Have you priced refrigerators lately? I was looking at them at Lowes yesterday, not knowing we might have to buy a new one, and they run anywhere from 7 or 8 hundred dollars up to $4,000!
I sure don't need or want the most expensive. I have no desire to be able to knock on the front door of the refrigerator and have it light up to see what's in it before I open the door. I still have to open the door.
We're going to call a repair man to see if my fridge can be fixed.
I tell you, I keep wondering what else is going to break. Makes me nervous.
But I trust God through whatever happens. I guess it's called life.

It amazes me how many things you can get on a fridge these days...and who needs them? Just something else to go wrong.

I think it's just unique little things to make people want to pay more money for useless stuff. I heard about a refrigerator that will even tell you what items you're low on in case you're too lazy to make your own grocery list. I would love one that just cleans itself out and throws away leftovers!

@LindaOHio I really would like having ice and water in the door and most of them come that way these days, but I don't think it's worth the extra cost. I was absolutely shocked that a refrigerator could cost $4,000.

with all yer troubles, do ya reckon ya might ought'a look 'nto those insurance plans they've now fer appliances/plumbin'/heat'n air?

Thanks. I'm hoping the repair man can help. It's bound to be cheaper than buying a new one if it's fixable.

A few years ago, my dryer broke and my uncle bought one at a used appliance store. It works just fine. Maybe you can look at some used appliance stores. Yeah fridges are expensive. I think those new ones are neat though.

We had our double oven and dishwasher go close to each other; and the double oven gave us sticker shock. Buying a new fridge is expensive too; but I don't need a TV or any other special gadgets on mine either! Good luck replacing your refrigerator. We have a Samsung and would never buy that kind again. Our first one was a Whirlpool and lasted a long time. This time around we purchased GE for the oven and dishwasher. Good luck!

I like Whirlpool and GE appliances. I've never had success with Frigidaire things.

@1creekgirl When we were looking for a dishwasher (we rarely use it; but if we go to sell the house we want to have a working one)...Maytag was WAY overpriced compared to GE; and I don't think Maytag is as good.

I think appliances have become like cell phones. They all have lots of bells and whistles that aren't always needed.

I think God just wanted you to have all new appliances.

Okay, but couldn't He have given one of us a raise? Or a lottery win?
