Frugal-ish Food 9.16.2019

So last night was he-child's turn to pick what was for dinner. He picked fried shrimp, steak fries and rolls.So of course that's what I made for dinner.
It was a success, even she child ate all the shrimp I put on her plate. She pulled all the breading off but she still ate it.
This wasn't exactly a super frugal meal, but it was cheaper than us going out and ordering similar things, or even anything. So I still consider it a frugal meal.
-2 pounds of fresh gulf shrimp $22
-Lousiana Shrimp fry- $2
-Milk and eggs for dredging- $1.50
-Steak Fries- $3
-Pillsbury Sweet Hawaiian Rolls - $2
$30.50 to feed all four of us. Or $7.60 ish each. Cheaper than eating out.

That's pretty good for four people.
I had eggs, potato, and a banana for supper, the same as I had for breakfast. I buy eggs by the 5 dozen box, and calculating what each is right now at 2.33 per box, is roughly .04 each egg. I had four so that was .16 for the eggs. The potatoes were 2 something for the ten-pound bag at Aldi, so my one potato didn't cost much. I spent $2.75 for two bunches of bananas. So, I'm going to guess my supper came to less than a dollar.

Good job! We need to start buying eggs in the big container. I use eggs every single night just about.
That reminds me we have bananas.

@thislittlepennyearns Wal-Mart has them in the 5-dozen box. If you have a Sam's membership, they have them in 7.5 dozen boxes.

@just4him We try not to shop at Walmart unless we have to, after their announcement to stop selling ammo.

I have no idea where I ate that night. I did have fried shrimp at a Golden Corral.

Yes it is. Where can you go out to dinner and get shrimp for four people for that price. It is frugal.

That sounds a nice dinner. I've said it before but what a great idea to let the kids choose occasionally.

It gets them more involved in things for sure. Next up is teaching them to do laundry,.
