Nancy Drew Movie

I decided to watch the Nancy Drew Movie I found on vudu. Nancy Drew should be a name that is familiar to most, but if you don't recognize the name, she is a teenage sleuth. She's a character in novels written by Carolyn Keene. The movie was pretty good. I will admit to not liking the mean girl aspect of it. I thought the man who played Nancy Drew's father was very handsome. This is the 2007 film I refer to, though there is another one that came out this year. You know those movies or shows that are meant to be based in another time period? Like, say, the 50's? They have the right kind of car, the right kind of clothes, and the lingo down pat. However, the characters are using cellphones or beepers, or any number of technological items that weren't available in the time period they are portraying. Yeah, well that happened in this movie, or so I thought. It wasn't until Nancy Drew got to LA that it was evident the movie was set in current times. The actor who played her father was even dressed similarly to what a man of the 1950's would be wearing. Anyway, I don't want to give the plot away, but I did end up liking the movie. The mean girl thing didn't overly distract from the rest of the plot. Have you seen this movie? The 2019 movie? or read the books?

My mom read Nancy Drew, The Harding Boys and the Boxcar kids (I think that's the name). I think her books got destroyed by improper storage and time. She used to tell me how she read them over and over again. I think I have read one book, or part of one book. It's been so many years, I can't properly recall. Nancy Drew is one awesome teenager though.

I haven’t seen it yet. I’m so glad you posted it. I saw Sophia Lillis‘ buzzfeed interview a long time ago. She talked about the movie a bit and I promised I’d watch it. I like her from Sharp Objects.

@shaggin I couldn't find a cast list in my preliminary search last night. Of course, I wasn't too worried about it as AHS was going to start soon and I wanted to be ready for it.

It was a cute movie. I believe that the man who played the father also played the caretaker.

I did not know there were movies, I have not read the books, but I have plenty of old Computer Adventure Games with Nancy Drew Detective character. Those were funny to play, I love to solve the cases.

I've heard of those games. I might have even played one years ago. Yes, there are two movies. One from 2007 (that I watched last night) and one that came out in March of this year.

@LadyDuck Do you still have a computer that will play them? I had a game that I liked to play and an old computer that I thought would play it. I bought the game (it's one I had as as a child) and it did not work. I contacted the seller and they gave me my money back and let me keep the CD Rom. I guess because it wouldn't have been worth it to send back.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I am sure the boxes with the games inside are somewhere here in the computer room.

There are actually two. I liked the 2007 movie, but I'm not sure whether I will watch the 2019 movie. The actor that plays Nancy Drew in that movie? She looks like she could also play Velma from Scooby Doo.

There are now two of them. One in 2007 and one in 2019. I am not sure if I'll watch the one from 2019.

I haven't seen the 2007 movie, but I have read some of the books. My aunt had told me about them when I was a kid. I got really interested, and that's when my parents started getting me some of the books.
