My parrot is still trying to break out of her cage

This is a fairly new behavior. She never did that at the house during the 14 years that I've had her. She learned that she could rattle the door of her food bowl and get the latch loose to get out. She must have been really bored the day she figured that trick out. Anyway parrots are too smart for their own good so she remembers how to get out. I have to use a bungee cord to secure the food door to keep it closed. I've been hearing her rattle the door for the past hour so she must really want out. I will take her out in a little while. I don't want to reward her for this behavior.

What a troublemaker! And obviously too clever for her own good.

Parrots seem like a hoot, but yes. They also seem like very smart animals. Makes you wonder about the whole 'bird brain' thing.

@NJChicaa It's probably always been a perception thing with birds. But maybe not based in reality. Tey are remarkable though.

She probably wants to do some exploring and wants some attention. Being in a cage all the time would make any animal go crazy.

I have a play stand for her here but she won't stay on it. She has plenty of toys to chew on, shred, etc. in her cage.

Our bunny seems to behave quite similarly.

I guess that she is a jailbird and always wants to break out. Maybe she is lonely and wants company.

maybe she's doing that because you haven't let her out for some time?
