How long would you be willing to wait on hold if you initiated the call?

I am tenth in line to be answered by an agent and given a guestimation of how long that might take. When I began this call it was five or ten before four pm, now it's four-thirty. When I began it was a 65 minute hold now it's up to 95 minutes even though I'm not ninety in line.
I think they're hoping people hang up because it seems to be going higher rather than lower.
I'm on the phone with PA' s vital record. We had to order my husband a new birth certificate for him to get a passport. His was missing the names of his parents. After filling out the paperwork correctly and sending it in we got the certificate back last week.
I was getting ready to mail it back to the passport office and realized they missed a letter for his mom's maiden name. We will probably have to start all over again. I'm hoping they can look at our application and see it's a clerical error on their part and send a corrected form without further intervention from us.
Today was my day off from cashiering and it c readiness earlier so this is my best day to be on hold forever although I was planning on seeing my mom for supper at five but at this rate I will not make it.
I'm now eighth in line after waiting almost 45 mins.

I don't think I have that option with my land line, but that would be something to consider if I needed to make another call long that.

@DianneN especially when we don't know or remember how long the place is open.

My husband began the process by taking his application in to the local post office to meet with a worker that does this on the side or as a part of his job. I'm a bit surprised he didn't notice the certificate was missing info. (Edited).
I have to remember to send that out tomorrow before work.

@LadyDuck yes. I was waiting because his mom's maiden name was spelled wrong. Come to find out that's the spelling they had after his birth.
If he gets the passport without any other requests then I'd say we did everything right, finally

Around here they have a recording to leave your number and they will call you back when you come up in the queue. It would really depend on how important my call was I suppose.

I knew someone I talked with this summer was open until ten but I couldn't remember if this was the place. It was. But I got my answer.
Her name was spelled that way on his original birth certificate. So either she didn't make sure they had the spelling correct or my husband has spelled it wrong all his life. One day we will find out but it's not needed to be accurate for now. It just has to match what was put down after his birth.

Yes. It took a bit with me asking questions to make sure I fully understood what she was telling me. Thankfully it's not something we have to get amended. We may also find that my husband spelled it wrong all these years. I may ask his sister sometime.

I was on hold once for 45 minutes at the end of the day.
Suddenly at 5 PM the message caphangd to...we are closed, please try again tomorrow.
Was I incensed? Smoke coming out of my ears and breathing fire kind of incensed!

That's what I was concerned about, that my call might be dropped at the end. I made a note that if I need to call them again to call after normal business hours. I was told the wait time is shorter.
Did your make the call again and if so were Tully in gold a while a second time? If so, that would be even worse.

Yes it is. I hoped that a lot holding before me would give up, but I don't know that many have.

That is such a pain in the neck having to wait on hold so long. That is an absolutely ridiculous amount of time you have had to wait. If something is really important I would wait as long as it takes but I wouldn't be happy at all being on hold as long as you were.

We have a limited amount of time to get the paperwork in without losing all the fees so it was worth the wait. Especially once I discovered we didn't need to get it fixed and that I'd we did choose to fix it that it would take another six weeks. That wouldn't give is much chance to get it back to the passport office in time.

It is exasperating to make a call to a service department that will make you wait for 20 minutes.

That's why I did wait. Extremely. Important. Exactly.
