Got My Labs Back at the Health Fair

All I had checked was my Vitamin D since the other tests are expensive and insurance doesn't cover it at the health fair. My doctor will order them when I see him next month --but I don't get the Vitamin D when he gets the rest of the labs. Anyways, my Vitamin D is in the normal range. Low normal, but still normal. I'll continue with my Keto Chow shakes, and perhaps add more vitamin D to it since I don't do all 3 shakes a day. Eli wanted to go to all the vendors, but I couldn't do it....my anxiety got bad because there were so many people in a small space! I tried to go to as many as I could for him. Do you ever get your Vitamin D checked to see how it's doing?

@MommyOfEli2013 I will ask my doctor about it the next time I go there just to see if it has ever been tested

@Happy2BeMe That is a good idea! Not sure what the symptoms of low Vit. D are

My Vitamin D has been low in the past so it's checked every time they draw blood. I'm also on a Vitamin D supplement. I don't need the prescription strength as I did at one point.

@MommyOfEli2013 I have no choice. It would be nice if I didn't need it, but I don't get outside as much as I should.

That's good they check it every time to keep a check on it then! Glad you don't need the prescription strength now though...but that's good to take a supplement

@just4him I understand, I need to supplement mine some...I barely made it into the "normal" range.

I do not get any of these levels checked. Vitamin D is supposed to be very helpful for a person's overall mood from what I have been told. My friend's doctor told her something about it once.

@MommyOfEli2013 Oh, really? I didn't know they checked levels like that for diabetics. I haven't been to the doctor in ages though.

Well nothing wrong with that....they started checking mine once I got diagnosed with diabetes. Yeah, I think Vitamin D can help with mood.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Well they haven't at the actual doctor's office. But my nutritionist recommends I have it tested at the health fair each fall (because it is a lot cheaper than it would be in the lab). I think that is because diabetics can have trouble absorbing the vitamins as well as others.

They check it when I get bloodwork done. It is always low as is my potassium.

That's good they check it when you get blood work done. Sorry yours is usually low, and your potassium. I never seem to be low on potassium.

@MommyOfEli2013 I don't know how I can possibly be low on vit D when I spend all summer in the sun but that is always the case

@NJChicaa That is odd that you still get that result with spending all summer in the sun!

My Vitamin D was low, my doctor told me to take a supplement, so that's what I'm doing.

@MommyOfEli2013 I don't sit in the sun very often. And if I do, it's only for about ten minutes.

@kobesbuddy I hear you, I am not in the sun a whole lot either. And don't eat a lot of foods with it. The Keto shakes have a lot of Vitamin D....but since I only drink one a day when I do....I will add extra liquid Vitamin D to it

Yes, I have a deficiency and am on Vitamin D3 tablets. With the calcium will help prevent me from getting Osteoporosis again.

@MommyOfEli2013 Yes and the vitamin D they give you is not absorbed by everyone, just switched over from D2 to D3, suppose to be better.
