Wax on the hands and feet

Do you guys remember a spa machine that came out in the late 90's maybe early 00's? You melt parrafin wax in it and place your hands or feet in the machine. You were meant to let that solidify and then peel it off. Your hands and feet would be silky smooth after this treatment. We had one of those and it was a weekly spa experience for us. Several of us girls would plug the machine in, add the wax and wait. It was a lot of fun to peel the wax off and feel how silky it had made us. Of course, now we know that parrafin wax isn't the best thing to use. Today I wouldn't even use wax at all. I'd melt a butter like shea, cocoa or mango and let that sooth my hands. Did anyone else have this machine? I'll drop a link to what I am referring to below.

I have this hot wax hand treatment, every time I go to the dentist. The receptionist sets it up, so patients can experience this while sitting in the dentist chair:)

I had one but when I went through my divorce I left it behind not by choice though. I liked the way it left your feet and hands after using it

I personally thought it was odd at first but my aunt encouraged me and so I tried it. it felt weird and dried thick. I liked the way it made my skin feel though.

I have never seen those machines here.

It might be because Parrafin isn't altogether good. Though its supposed to help those with arthritis, it is actually derived from petroleum. Like I said, If I did get another one of these I'd have to melt some other kind of wax (coconut wax for instance) or a butter. Mango is supposed to be especially good for the skin

@LadyDuck I was just reading yesterday that paraffin was good for arthritis sufferers. Maybe the wax has to be heated to a degree that needs to be monitored?

@ScribbledAdNauseum I know that paraffin treatments for arthritis are are performed in healthcare centers. I suppose that this is one of those things that you cannot do yourself at home here in Europe.

The wax was never too hot. If memory serves the machine would melt the wax but you couldn't open it ot get any out until a light indicated it was safe. I might be wrong, but either way the wax was not too hot. Parrafin isn't actually a good wax to put on skin as it can clog pores.

Never see or heard of it here. Most likely we go to salon to have some waxing.

I'm not sure that a salon would have this kind of treatment but it might. This isn't wax to remove body hair. It's just wax to soften the skin. They use parrafin wax though which is clogging to the pores.

@JustBhem Bullet test? When I think of bullet test I think of these bubbles that you fill in with pencil when answering questions.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Really? I am not sure about it as well. I remember using parrafin wax when I was in college for our bullet test.

Let me clarify, it's all in opinion. Paraffin is a wax derived from petroleum. I personally wouldn't use it, but others might not have a qualm with it.

I never heard of this. But I know of a machine that supposedly detox your feet. My fiance had a detox machine.

I've heard of people detoxing their feet but not via a machine. I've seen those masks you are meant to wear on your feet or an herbal foot bath that is supposed to do the same thing. A friend of mine had a detox foot bath like that once. It stripped the heavy metals from her and was visible in the bath water.

We loved it Of course we didn't know how clogging to the pores it could be or that the paraffin was derived from petroleum.
