Back on Route 66

It's been five weeks since we left our home for our epic road trip.
We've travelled much of the TransCanada Highway across Canada.
Highway 1 along the coast of California provided breathtaking, unforgettable moments.
Route 66 was on our bucket list of things to do. We took bits and pieces that were accessible from Bakerfield, California to Barstow and then on to Kingman.
Construction varied our route and we meandered off to make a slight detour into Nevada. By Kingman, Arizona we were back on our prepared route.
A stopover at the Grand Canyon was part of the plan.
Then the weather messed up and we were already heading off the route, so we headed though the countryside of New Mexico and West Texas.
Yesterday we headed north again and last night we stayed in Shamrock, Texas....and spotted this awesome building.
Anyone who has watched Disneys Pixar movie "Cars" will recognize this.
Our journey continues.

Pretty sure my parents made that stop as well. Did you get to see all the Volkswagen beetles standing on their noses too?

We did bits and pieces of Route 66. I'm sure we saw many of the same things as your mom and dad, but there are also things we didn't see. He Volkswagen beetles and the painted Cadillac ranch we didn't see.

@Morleyhunt guess those can go on the bucket list if you so choose. I do say, that I am a tad jealous that family are seeing so many interesting things. One day I will get to do that as well.

We have been blessed with the weather we've had for our trip.
While we've had some rain, it hasn't made us change our plans more than a bit of rerouting. In fact one day of rain, meant we spent a full day touring the painted desert and petrified forest. Our original plan had us only spend about an hour or two there.

This building is a lovely color and it looks attractive to me. I haven't ever watched the movie called Cars. I wish you more success with you journey along route 66. Someones an off the planned route shows us more than the main route because it can be more scenic.

That building is very pretty! Its been probably 8 years or more that I watched cars so I don't recognize that place. Sometimes off the planned route and onto back roads shows us more beautiful things then we expected.

We've been loving every moment of our trip. Detours and slight changes in plan have only improve the trip.

@Morleyhunt I seem to recall that they had an unusually early spring this year, and I know that I have spoken to customers from out west who tell me that August was a very cold month, like October, so maybe they are having an early winter. But, they can keep it out there, we had a late spring and should enjoy a late winter.

We made our westward trip throu Canada and are doing the return trip through the southern US. Today we were really happy we were not travelling through Alberta.

We talked about this trip for 45 years.
I asked my husband if it was meeting his expectations..
He responded, "No!"

When I did my cross country I went to Las Vegas and Rino. I have went to New Mexico.Sorry I did not watch it so I do not recognize the picture for the post.
