Another problem with SCAM SPAM emails

Of course, most of us get a lot of SPAM eamails and SCAM phone calls. They're a pain in the butt, but there's a secondary problem with them: When we get a legitimate email or phone call from PayPal or eBay or our doctor, we're likely to be suspicious. Is this real? Have you ever deleted, or almost deleted, something that turned out to be real?
Exactly that happened to me this morning. The headline on this email from PayPal was a bit wordy, but the grammar was OK, so I opened it. I was a red nose hair away from deleting it without reading it.

I don't know what is real/fake, I don't open and delete. If it's real then I guess I'll be affected and if I get my account banned or something I will contact customer service lol.

@TheHorse It's definitely not relevant to mine, either.

I work for a very large company and we constantly get emails from unrecognised people from completely irrelevant and previously unheard of departments. I play safe and repot everything as spam.
If nothing else I hope it highlights how much junk is generated even by our own internal departments.

@JESSY3236 I don't trust much that come via the internet, though.

Yes, and I agree, I have to be real careful not to delete a real email.

If I am in doubt I go to the site from the link I have saved. While there I can report the e-mail if needed.

I get so many junk emails that I have overlooked a real one in the past. I don't have time to unsubscribe (I didn't subscribe in the first place) and I don't have time to look through all of them, so I end up deleting spam and legit alike. I tell people to text me, don't send me an email. Glad you caught that real one in time.

@TheHorse I could do that if I could figure out how to get rid of so many junk emails without deleting important ones.

I received this one. Knew it was real. But hey, these tricksters can make a scam email look legit these days.

Only since they hired me. I'm a good writer and know the English language, as well as the rhythm of "real" Company emails, quite well. My new career as a scam email writer has proven extremely lucrative. To heck with teaching and saving the world for poor children in the Bay Area. Cha-ching!
