Memories of the Generations

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that I loaded all the old 8mm video reels that my parents had taken in the 60s to a video transfer place. Today I got the videos.
Seven hours of footage on the reels all neatly compressed onto one 64-gigabyte flash drive.
With it in hand I took it and my laptop to a restaurant and met my brother. We barely noticed our food as we watched the generations of our family.
A quick preface: these reels have been more places than Hank Snow, including decades in an un-air conditioned attic. How they didn't do the Mission: Impossible self-destruct in ten seconds routine is beyond me.
But they didn't, and as a result our lunch was spent with our parents, our grandparents, and even our great-grandparents (there was video of my great-grandfather's birthday party on one reel).
I can't wait till these are all transferred so I can give them to my niece and my surviving uncles and aunts. The memories of the generations flowed heavily as we watched. I hope it blesses the rest of my family that way.
Photo is a shot of the video footage: me as a toddler.

I'm so happy for you that you have all your memories in photos safe and preserved. You should write a memoir of your life stories.

You are lucky to have those old videos. For us it's only the snapshots from instamatic camera.
