Can you take your cat in a taxi in your country?

I went to the vet with two kittens. Some cab drivers allowed cats in their car, but others were very upset. The kittens were in a cat carrier. But some drivers can't stand animals at all. Others didn't have a problem with them. Can you take your cat in a taxi in your country? I didn't know that cats in cat carriers are not allowed in a taxi.

I have never tried taking a cat in a taxi. If I did, I would, of course, have it in a proper travelling basket. I would probably tell the taxi firm that I wanted to take the cat to the vet and, if they had any regulations about carrying animals, they would then know. Individual drivers might be allergic to cats or the firm might be aware that other customers might have animal allergies and may have a policy not to carry animals. There is certainly no law against it. It would be entirely up to the company whether they allowed it or not.

The cats were in a cat carrier. But I don't have a car. I need a taxi, unfortunately. Some drivers don't stand animals at all.

It is left at the good will of the driver, many are refusing animals in their cabs.

I didn't know this. Even if the animals are in carriers they refuse to take them.

I don“t know if there is a law. But it would stand to reason that it would depend on the driver.

@dya80dya I know that there are many hotels where you cannot take your pets.

@marguicha Yes, we can't take pets there. And even in shops we can't take them.

Really? I wonder why. They are in cat carriers and they don't make mess.

@dya80dya The travelling basket is closed and the cat cannot run out of the basket, it is like a cat carrier but made with the same material as a basket.

The kittens would run from a basket. They were in a cat carrier. They didn't enjoy being there at all. Some drivers had such a bad reaction. I didn't expect it.

@LadyDuck I understand now. I saw a cat in something similar. But that cat was normal, not feral. She didn't try to run or to ruin that basket.

I agree. But some drivers get mad when they see animals in their car.

@mrki444 I agree. At least we can know this. And we can avoid them.

Yes, it is possible to take a cat in a taxi here, but you have to mention it when you call. Some drivers don't accept pets in their taxis, but if the company knows it in advance they are usually able to find a driver who accept pets.

This is good to know. Maybe some drivers hate pets.

I actually am not aware if you can or not. However, i think it might be dependent on the indiviudal driver here.

@dya80dya Some people are allergic to pets. It might be that these cabbies were allergic to your cat.

I agree with you. Some drivers didn't have a problem with them. But others were so mad.

I'm not sure we can get a pet in a cab.
