Horse Jr. turns 11-years later this month. I don't know what the fates have in store for him, but I hope they are good things. This morning, while his mom was at work, we went to Home Depot (a large hardware chain) to participate in the "first Saturday of the month kid project." Later, we cycled (he scootered) and got some exercise. Finally, he played Minecraft on my bed while I did my internet thing, and then we worked on a couple of new rafts. He wants to visit my little kids at the preschool and bring them a raft for the "water table." When I took breaks from the internet, I "demanded" that he do the same, and I taught him the beginning of Bach's Minuet in G. Today, I worked on his fingering--I told him he had to do his "scales" right. I really enjoy hanging out with this kid. He's not my natural son, but he loves several things I love, sports, music, projects, and math. I hope I'm teaching him right.

@rakski As long as he's having fun (and secretly learning stuff), I'm happy.

Sounds fun and sure you teaching him right f its about fun. Kids jr need to be shown fun or else they create their own fun and that is where people or horse jr's get in trouble. Self experiences apply here.

I am glad he likes music, cycling, and being a bit rebellious. He knows about my illegal planting at Kaiser.

@TheHorse Haha, guess you showed him the legal illegal planting and not the real illegal planting in the middle of the Forest. Horse is like shut up, going to get me in trouble. That was a joke people.

Did a play Bach's Minuet in G on a piano? It is a piece I have heard so many times played by piano students.

@TheHorse I had a small piano when I was a kid and I remember that I also played it.

I hope he carries the things we've done together forward. If he has a son, long after I'm gone, I hope he teahes him Bach.

They do. But I want him to have more friends who are 10 or 11. My friend Tom and I are trying to arrange a play date for Horse Jr. and his daughter, who is nine. We've done it before and they got along well.

Is that a piano or an organ that Jr was learning?

We both have electronic keyboards, which can sound like a piano or organ. Sometimes I let him use whatever setting he wants.

I think so. He seems happy. And he's comfortable here. But he likes challenges. Right now I'm teaching him another Bach piece.
