I may have a new set of speakers to work on today (but under sad circumstances)

This one is a bit complicated: A friend of a friend passed away recently. I didn't know him, but he was good friends with my buddy and band mate Michael, the one who records my songs in his garage studio. Among the deceased's possessions are two sets of vintage loudspeakers speakers that may be worth a total of $600 or so. The deceased's wife passed those on to Rod, Michael's and my friend and band mate, to pass them on to me for cosmetic restoration. But I haven't seen Rod in a couple of weeks. Today, Michael, Rod and I are getting together to play some music. We'll be focusing on "piano jazz," which is something we don't do in any of the bands we're in together. I just emailed Rod to ask him to bring one of the sets of speakers to our "jam session," so I can take them home and restore them. We (the boys) want to sell them to raise money for my friend's friend's wife. I offered my services for free, but the boys said they want to pay me something. I'll accept a bit after the speakers sell and the money finds its way to the deceased's wife. I hope the stars line up right, and that I come home with a set of speakers to work on today. As I've said before, sanding wood is The Horse's form of meditation.

So nice of you to offer your services for free. I hope that once you've restored them that they get a good price for them.

I'm selfish. I look forward to having the speakers here so I can relax with them. But I will think of a way to (secretly) honor my friend's friend's memory. Perhaps a little extra shine (Watco Danish Oil) on one surface. Something that no-one will know about (consciously) except me.

It's good you will have more speakers to work on. And good of you to do it to help out the wife.

I hope she's doing OK. I don't know her personally.
