I keep adding to my savings

When I moved out of my home in April I had zero dollars in savings. That's because my now ex-husband and I didn't have any savings to split or fight over. I am now living in an apartment and my goal is to buy a house sometime in the next year or two. To that end I've been transferring hundreds of dollars from my checking account to my savings account.
I just added $200 and crossed the $3000 benchmark. I know it isn't much in the grand scheme of things but I was happy to get to 3K. I'll be interested to see how much I can save over the rest of the work year. Realistically I won't be able to start looking for a house for another 2 years. I will be happy if I can get out of here earlier than that.
We shall see.

That's a good amount in such a short time. Long way to go toward saving up for a house though.

@NJChicaa I live in my parents' other house but would prefer to own my own home. Gonna take a long time for that to happen.

What happened to your old house? Is he living in it? Did he buy you out? Did you sell it? You should have a big chunk of money from that.

@NJChicaa Hmmm, did your lawyer think that was a good deal? More often it is sold as part of a divorce and the proceeds are split.

Stories of people saving and investing delights me. I'm happy that you are doing this. I also am accumulating some coins, small dividends and well myLot earnings, selling some stuff. My goal is humble though, to buy an HP laptop. But the journey is fun.
