Setting Out on Our New Zealand Campervan Trip / myLot

Last Sunday my sister and I started out from Taupo in central North Island New Zealand to visit our cousins in Gisborne over on the East Cape. I'd never holidayed in a campervan before, so it felt like a bit of an adventure. My niece commented, when she took the above photo, that we were dressed as twins. We laughed as we live several hundred kilometres apart and yet often find we've purchased similar clothing. Even on this trip we found we'd packed similar things. The first day of travel we only went a couple of hours, across to an east coast beach where we stayed the night. I'll write about each day's happenings as they unfolded, so watch out for my posts over the next week or so if you're interested in seeing more of New Zealand.

oh wow! that's a lovely campervan, much more roomy lookin''n that beast the hubs purchased, lol. ya two ladies look so happy to be goin' cross country. wishin' y'all safe travels. i presume y'all've no set time schedule? which's great - means ya can stop where ya wish'n savor those moments 'long the journey. lookin' ferward to yer discussions 'f such.

As we were only going for about six days we did sort of have a schedule. And going cross country in New Zealand only takes a few hours

What a riot! You and your sister must had plenty of laughs over that. I spent time in my cousin’s camper when I was 12. I’ve never forgotten how much fun it was.

@valmnz I can relate to that. I have a sister who looks like me but she's thinner than me. Her friends who met me for the first time thought that I was a younger sister.

It looks a very big camper van. Your niece seems to be right that you both look like twins instead of sisters of different ages. It is funny that many kilometers apart you often buy similar clothing. It is such an adventure for you as it is your first time in a camper van. I visited New Zealand in 2001 to 2002. I look forward to more of your discussions showing the fantastic scenery. I wish I was there with you.
