New Neighbors Have Dogs

Today while out in the backyard, I noticed more of the neighbors have dogs. I saw this last week but wan't sure who lived in which house. So many to try and keep up with now. So far nobody has a fence except me. I hope that will change soon. With animals you have to do better than what I am seeing so far. But I will try to be patient. I just don't want any of them jumping the fence and scaring my cats. We will hope for the best and give them some more time. But, well, we will just wait and see. I will say this, if you have animals, take care of them. They cannot run loose. Other than that potential issue, it has been a beautiful day. It only got into the 60s and sunshine. A gorgeous fall day. I hope you all have a great evening.

I hope they will be responsible. We have a fenced in yard. Only have little Bella and she is no trouble.

These neighbors moved in recently so I am trying to give them a little time to act right. We have leash laws.

I agree with you, when you have pets, you need to put up protective barriers on your property.

When our neighbor had a new dog, it was a torment for more than a week of waking up from the incessant barking of that dog.

Hopefully, something is done about that soon. Our neighbors, after many years we already had a fence but it was a wire fence so the dogs were always stressed out if they were to see a car pass by or someone going into the backyard, they finally put up a brick wall and everything is so peaceful.

I wonder why they don't have a fence. I had such neighbors. Their dogs almost bit people.

We have a five-foot-tall white fence that confines the area where our dog run around, they are never put loose in the yard. I hope you have responsible neighbors.

People with dogs really should have a fenced in yard.

You must have a fence here if you want to keep your dog/dogs in your garden, without a fence you must keep them inside.

best 'f luck with those neighbors pups, hon. i used to get asked lots why we'd a 6' chain link fence. 'twas due to someone out here with goats who were out all the time. took a 6 footer to keep 'em off my place. got to 80 here yesterday - yippee!! 'nly high 60's/low 70's today. the winds 're quite brisk 'n send a chill through this ol' body.

That is when the war will begin. But I am being patient... for now. The cats have already seen them from the screen room.

@CarolDM Just make sure the cats stay safe in the screen room. Doodles looks at people walking dogs on our street and is okay with that. Once, a dog must have broken loose and ran to us in our yard. My hubs and I saw he was a sweetie, but clapped our hands at him to make him run away. Doodles was outside and frantic. He ran to us with his little ears back. I scooped him up and brought him into the house.

@DianneN Yes they have for as long as they have been here. But they come in when it gets dark. I don't trust any strays that might come in the yard. He could get through that screen if he really wanted to. I know Doodles must have been so scared.

in maryland if your dog runs loose once it is a 50 dollar ticket. twice is 100 bucks. It goes up from there. Glad you are keeping your hopes Carol!!!

@CarolDM :-) It can be frustrating. Our neighbor came over to tell us last night that she is selling the house. We will miss her!

I keep my dog on a leash. Fences are very expensive. If I let her run loose she would get killed in the road.

There are dogs everywhere here, but most people keep them under control. When I had my dog, I had Invisible Fence. He would ocassionally stage a prison break though and go strolling around the neighborhood! I almost always knew it though and would go after him. One time though I didn't know where he was..he came back home after about an hour though cheerfully wagging his tail..if he was a person..he would have been whistling. Hope they don't aggravate the cats.

I do let my cat roam free. Most of the dogs here are on leashes.

I hope it doesn't turn into an issue. They are quite strict on pets in our state unless you live in the backblocks.

I can't stand to see dogs running loose. Not only because they get into other people's yards, but for their own safety. It was 60s and sunny here too. Today (Monday), it's going to go back into the 50s. :-(
