Time to put this series to bed! That's right, tuck it in, sing it a lullaby, it's over! Here's the top song -- to no one's surprise, probably -- on my list of songs with "bed" in the title. #1: Black Coffee in Bed - Squeeze Now, the thing that might surprise people is that I didn't care all that much for the album (Sweets From a Stranger) that this song came from. But it's like any album that follows such a "masterpiece" or "classic album" (in this case, their album East Side Story): it's almost doomed to failure, no matter how good it is. But this song? Wowza. A little doo-wop, a little country, and those great lyrics inspired by Chris Difford seeing "a stain on my notebook" (the opening line of the song). It's a break-up song set to a bouncy beat, complete with Elvis Costello singing backup. One of my favorite Squeeze songs. Thanks for reading, and good night.
