Toilet-related dreams

Funnily enough – having just read about @xFiacre’s toilet and Elton John dream - my last dream was also bathroom-related. I was with my daughter and we had been visiting a garden centre (which may or may not exist) at a town about 10 miles away, which we had reached by bicycle. On the way home we needed a toilet stop, and the nearest place was some sort of college (in the sort of Oxford/Eton style) where there was some sort of party or ball going on, so we asked if we could come in and they let us through the big front door and into another room, like a drawing room, where a lot of people were also waiting for the toilet. But after a long wait, when the door eventually opened we passed through into a room that had no bathroom fittings either but instead was more like some sort of porcelain cave, with a sloping floor all covered in a sort of porcelain flowstone; made up of repeated patterns of shiny white pieces covering the floor and walls. We scrambled up the slope to another doorway but through this was more of the same, until eventually we found our way out into a garden and across that was a cocktail bar. The bar was very busy and brightly decorated. I thought that we might find a toilet there, so we went over and walked around the curved bar and then found ourselves in a posh restaurant. Some of the boys from the college were dining there, some alone and attended by liveried waiters; some with companions who were presumably family but who were all women and all dressed flamboyantly in red and with matching, bouffant hair sprayed with streaks in either silver or gold. We threaded our way between the tables, still hoping to find the facilities, but in the end we came to a back door and on passing through, found ourselves in the centre of Chester! At that point I woke up and went to the bathroom – which was just as usual. All rights reserved. © Text and image copyright Fleur 2019.

That was a long and detailed dream. You surely needed to go to the toilet but your brain refused to wake up your body.

Yes, maybe it was making excuses to itself?

@Fleura I know it happens, I have the same kind of dreams when I should get up and go to pee and I am too lazy to open my eyes.

Shame that back door didn't lead you into the centre of Manchester. You'd have found your toilet.

I haven't been to Manchester in years, and in fact I've only ever been there twice I think, so I guess my subconscious would be hard pressed to conjure it up!

@WorDazza Why did public toilets always used to have those weird yellowish sort of glazed bricks??

@Fleura Funnily enough the exterior of the old Arndale shopping centre in Manchester was covered in beige coloured tiles which rendered it oddly reminiscent of the interior of a public toilet.

You had a really weird and funny dream.I find dreams incomprehensible,we frequently dream of where we haven't been to and things that we have never seen.

@Fleura It is a really mysterious phenomenon.A dream blends all we have seen and heard of,then presents entirely new things beyond recognition.

Often I can pick out elements of my dreams from things that have happened or been in my thoughts - for example a snippet of something I heard on the radio or read about, a person I thought I saw in a crowd - all combined together in a new and strange way. But this one doesn't have any meaning for me! (Other than that perhaps I needed the bathroom!)

That was an interesting bathroom dream. When I have a bathroom dream, it's because I need to wake up and get in there.

It's funny how people from long ago can suddenly pop up in your dreams, isn't it?

Probably, my subconscious mind was making excuses not to get up!

@fleura Wow, that was a lot more exciting than my lavatorial adventure. What’s you secret for provoking such nocturnal frolicking? I want what you’re having.

Sometimes I try to interpret a vivid dream but often I just forget it.

I wonder what a dream analyser would have made of your dream! It is very thorough and descriptive. As long as the toilet was not like this one that surely would have given you nightmares! Someone leaving a log in a bog!

I’m surprised you were able to recount all the details of that dream, but obviously it was time to use the bathroom. Glad it wasn’t a nightmare.

I start dreaming about bathrooms when I need to go to the toilet but don't want to get out of bed.

Yes I think there was an element of that to it.
